Post subject: | The year so far |
It's time for a quick recap of where I'm at this year. In the short story form I have professional sales of - ~ The Scotsman's Fiddle - Mountain Magic Anthology (out now) ~ The Shoogling Jenny - Specters in Coal Dust Anthology (out now) ~ The Colour that came to Chiswick - Gaslight Arcanum Anthology ~ Variations on a Theme - Escapepod podcast ~ Supply and Demand - Daily Science Fiction There's also other Anthology sales of - ~ Turn Again - Null Immortalis ~ Living the Dream - Watch ~ The Colour of the Deep - Call of Lovecraft ~ Morning Sickness - Best New Vampire Tales ~ Inquisitor - Historical Lovecraft and two others I can't mention yet but I'm very excited about. There's also the forthcoming hardcover antho Cthulhu 2012 with my story "Call and Response." On the longer works front, my wee ebooks have exceeded my wildest expectations. THE INVASION got into the top 3 in both the Kindle sci-fi and Kindle horror charts, with THE VALLEY and ISLAND LIFE providing more than adequate backup. I have a lot more stuff coming in ebooks in the next few months, and I'm excited to see if I can repeat THE INVASION's success. First up will be BERSERKER - Vikings vs Yeti in a Northern Russia Winter. There will also be a flurry of new e-chaps - short stories at 99 cents or less each. These are already proving popular on the Kindle. In print, the 3rd Midnight Eye File is close to publication. THE SKIN GAME should be out for Xmas, and sees Derek Adams up against a werewolf cult in Glasgow and Newfoundland. Also in print, I'm finalising plans for a short story collection. WHISPERS FROM THE DARKSIDE should be along soon. In this collection of a dozen new stories you'll find some people, some Deep Old Ones, some ghosts, a demonic puppet, a dreaming god, a Samurai, some private detectives, Excalibur, an angel and, last but by no means least, a yeti. Looking further ahead, I've sold a novel to Elder Signs Press. The title is yet to be confirmed, but I can promise mayhem on the streets of an ice-bound Manhattan. I'm waiting apprehensively for the notes from the editor. Hopefully it won't be too onerous. All that, and I will be co-editing THE UNSPOKEN with Stephen James Price, an anthology for Cancer relief that will have a stellar line-up that already has me excited. For details of all my publications, see my website at http://www.williammeikle.com I'm having my best year ever as a writer, and it has re-energized me to push even harder. ![]() |
