Just letting everyone know that Tasmaniac in Australia will be putting out a deluxe hardcover collection of my short stories in 2010. Wraparound cover and interior artwork by Keith Minnion and an introduction by Simon Clark. This is going to be a VERY cool book and I'm very excited about it. Big huge gigantic thanks to Steve Clark as Tasmaniac!

Both of Tim's stories in Two Die Four knocked me on my ass. I can't wait for this collection to come out. :v

Hi Tim!

Just wanted to give you a shout out about how much I REALLY enjoy your short fiction, as well as your novels, and am super looking forward to your first short story colelction. First short story collection? That should be a crime! I don't know why you don't get near the attention you deserve as a writer. What's even more shocking is I can't believe a "big name" publisher like Leisure or Pinnacle hasn't signed you up. Quite perplexing!

Anyway, was wondering, and I know it's still way early, but do you think this short story collection will contain some of your early, more obscure stories from prints such as Dark Animus and Burning Sky? Some of those are ridiculously hard to track down! I've found a few on Abebooks, but some are rather pricy.

I was going through your bibliography, counting your short stories out of curiosity, and lost count somewhere in the sixties. Man! That's a lot of stories! That's enough for several short story collections. Tasmaniac's gotta make your first collection fat and juicy. Keep up the excellent writing and maybe one day I'll meet you in person.

BTW, The Devil Next Door is the sickest, coolest story I think I've ever read!

Hey Travis,

Thanks for the nice comments, man. Yes, my Tasmaniac collection will contain early stories from Dark Animus and Burning Sky. If it sells well enough we'll be doing more volumes. Have to wait and see on that. I agree that it's shocking about Leisure. They just won't give me the time of day. I haven't tried Pinnacle in a few years, though.

hey Tim,

feel like i'm calling a radio show (long time listener, first time caller), but I've been also been a fan for quite a while, and still remember quite well your story One September Night... the whole business side of writing can be darned maddening sometime, but I wouldn't sweat it if I were you.

...and you are most likely doing better without them as far as promotion, editorial control, and compensation goes. I love Leisure books, but I am worried about their ability to survive in today's market place.

Yeah, I guess you guys are right. There's definitely something to said for the freedom to write what you want, the way you want to write it. Still...I wouldn't mind a mass market contract ;) (that was my wallet talking)

Well, I guess I better be happy where I'm at. Looks like Leisure is on its last legs. Nothing but ebooks now. They'll probably sink without a trace within the year...

I've enjoyed loads of Leisure books but I tend to find that, with a few exceptions, their releases fall into the "entertaining shite" category. Exceptions being Braunbeck, Ketchum re-issues etc. Although Braunbeck has left them now, I believe.

Your stuff, Tim, I think is too good for Leisure. Let them stick with hacks like Graham Masterton.
