Well, I figured I'd post this so people can talk about anything having to do with Skin Medicine, an excellent horror western that I'm reading right now. Skin Medicine is creepy, dark, loaded with action, and a healthy dose of good, old-fashioned storytelling. When I finish it I'll post more thoughts about it. I have to mention anytime I'm talking about Skin Medicine, about how much I love that blazing cover! I looked at that cover when it came in the mail, and said, now that's how you make a book look like it will not only scare you, but reach out through the pages and stab you to death. (I like the cover art for Dead Sea, too) Thanks for writing this one, Tim! Mike. |

I've submitted a review of Skin Medicine to Nanci for October's review secton here in Horrorworld. If she is kind enough to run it, it will appear in a week and a half on October 1st. I don't want to say much before then, but I would advise Curran fans and fans of weird westerns to pick this one up as soon as possible. And pick up his Dead Sea while your at it. These books are pure gold for true horror fans. Tt |

Wow! Now that's a review. Thanks very much, Tony. I don't think I've ever had one that complimentary before. Thanks for being in my corner! Tim |

Well, I reallly think you are that good Tim. I can't for the life of me figure out why some of the big guys haven't scooped you up yet. Or even the small press, houses like Tasmaniac, Full Moon, and the like would be a perfect match your brand of horror. I am really hoping that Dead Sea gets picked up by someone, that book of yours deserves to be read by every horror buff. Tt |

I really liked Skin Medicine. It was the first Tim Curran book I picked up a few months back. Thought it was well written, great characters and great dialogue (loved Charles Greybeard). Not to mention some great horror sequences. It wasn't perfect though. POSSIBLE SPOLIERS AHEAD I personally found the final third or so to be not up to the standard of the rest of the novel. I found that the climax descended into a formulaic action horror movie type ending. The big final battle type thing. The villain stopped being scary. My other complaint was that the big bad mountain man character (forget his name) was built up into this big evil foe for the hero to deal with but he had a sudden about turn in personality and became a good guy. I found that unrealistic and a bit of a waste. |

This still remains one of my favorites. I found little to complain about at all in this one. A good primer for 4 Road Out. Tt |
