Post subject: | A Writing Question For Tom. |
Hi, Tom, Horrordude here (my actual name is Mike)-congrats on the recent awards, by the way, you deserve it. The question I have isn't about writing specifically, but about submitting stories. I've been writing for a while and why I'm just starting to submit my stories is a tale too long to bother you with. But, I've been submitting to the paying markets, and I wanted to ask you if you think it's better for a writer of horror just starting to submit to try and make a name for himself in the paying markets first, or the non-paying markets for the exposure? Or possibly both at the same time? I have no editor or agent-I'm just a guy who barricades himself in his house writing all day and spends all night doing homework (reading). Of all the new authors (new to me) I've recently gotten in to, yourself and Gary Braunbeck are the two I find to be the most talented, and I already bothered Gary once this week with a writing question, so I thought I'd ask you. Sorry for the long post, I know you're busy. Thanks, Tom! |
