“Romeo’s Distress” is a weird, quirky, genre-bending, piece of “no-budget” filmmaking. It is a Shakespearean, Gothic, Horror-Thriller that tells a story of a boy name James, his unrequited love for a girl named Jane, and her father’s sadistic (yet dutiful) response to it all.
If you like Monochrome, Shakespeare, John Waters, Edgar Allan Poe, Teenaged Angst, Gothic Cemeteries, Surrealism, Cheesecake, Grandmas, Ukeles, Carrots, Melons, and Grave Diggers then you will surely DIG Romeo!
Partially filmed in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, it was shot almost entirely in Monochrome over 15 months by Jeff Frumess (writer, director) on camera and associate producer Nick Bohun (“The Battery”, “Here Alone”) running sound (along with everything else sandwiched in-between).
“Romeo” is currently in consideration at numerous film festivals.
