A lot of web space providers now have programs (like Word Press) that make it easy to come up with a simple web "presence" or you could make a page on MySpace easily enough.

Of course, it isn't as good as a real web page, designed by a real web designer, but it WILL give you a presence and, most of all, it will give you an idea of what you want and don't want in a web.

I've designed a lot of webs myself (and before you ask, I'm too busy, LOL!), and the one thing that drives me crazy is a person who has no clue what he or she wants. I mean, that's not a problem in itself: you find out a person's goals, you mock something up, and you brainstorm from there. The problem is when the person has no clue about goals and after brainstorming, still doesn't have a clue.

So, my advice is to try something pre-packaged at first. It'll help you get an idea what you want in a web site. Just my opinion, and I know that there are downsides to this approach, but it's a start.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not ready to plunge into it yet though. I want to try the traditional route for a bit longer but the idea is still intriguing to me and may be something I might want to do in the future.
