The Liberty States Fiction Writers is a NJ-based organization of mostly romance writers who held their first conference this past March. I pitched my series in a very impromptu session, as in, I had no intnentions of anything more than getting the agent's card, but her boss knows me and told her to go sit and hear my story. The agent liked my idea and asked to see the synopsis and 30 page partial. she loved it and wanted the rest of the book. We met in the city and we talked and her answers to my questions were enough that when she said she wanted to represent me, I said fine. So Marisa Corvisiero is now my agent. The plan: She's reading the book and will get back to me with her editorial thoughts and comments. Then we talk to work through the issues. Next will be me sitting alone, locked in my writing room, making all the changes we agree. After that, I get her a clean copy and she starts contacting publishers. She's new in the biz, but very enthusiastic, which I really like. I know a number of writers that have agents that don't seem overly excited to push their work. Strange, no? My fingers are crossed that between now and the end of the year I'll have a book contract. If you'd be so kind as to cross your fingers, toes and any other cross-able appendages, that would be awesome. And I promise when more news arrives, I'll post it here so y'all can keep up with me. Thank you, thank you. It's looking like the Chronicles may change from a five book series to a trilogy dealing with these ancient gods trying to come "home" and their potential banishment or not. After that, so long as someone's still alive, I can bring the other story ideas into play |
