Jeez, I just saw on my girlfriend's facebook that Tom Pic has a brain tumor. Evidently the news first showed up on Brian Keene's board. Tom's scheduled for surgery tomorrow. Damn, you read a post like that and it's like a cinderblock in the face. I've known Tom since the late 80's; and I met him first at one of the HWA cons, I think the first one at the Warwick. No one has a sense of humor as unique as Tom's! He's been a close friend ever since, and I'm damn confident he will CONTINUE to be a good friend cos he's a ball buster and a tough customer and he's gonna PULL THROUGH this. He's the third friend I've got now who's got cancer; the first two are pulling through, and Tom's gonna pull through. Until then, whatever it is we as individuals believe in spiritually, and for those who don't believe in spirituality, be it God, Allah, Deus Otiosus, the Mater Magna, Fate, or friggin' Cthulhu, let's all direct our prayers, entreatises, intercessions, supplications, and good wishes Tom's way. He will feel our inundation of positive thought as effectively as strong sunlight on his face. Damn it!

I just KNOW he'll be okay.

Well said, Lee. I, too, heard about this over the weekend and reposted the link for donations (posted in The Cellar) on the horror forum on GoodReads...and bought some Pic novels earlier today, as well...

Best wishes and prayers sent. Cancer sucks!! From the little I know about brain cancer, if it can be operated on, that usually is a good sign. I will be sure to buy some books from him.

This has been on my mind since I heard the news. I have some of Tom's books. I've tried to read some of his work but, unfortunately for me, my brain has a hard time with his eloquent prose and I've never managed to finish one. Many people I respect and admire hold Tom in very high regard; therefore, I admire him by-proxy.
My husband suffered a brain injury from an accident 9 years ago and I know firsthand how devastating it can be on families. I am hoping beyond hope that Tom's brain isn't too badly damaged from the tumor and his recent surgery. I've been checking around for an update, or some information on the nature of the tumor, but haven't been able to find anything other than Tom might be in for more of a fight that was originally anticipated. I'm keeping him and his wife in my thoughts.

I read about this horrible news a few days ago on Brians site and bought 3 of Pic's books for my kindle. I ordered Clown in the Moonlight, The Fever Kill, and Fuckin' Lie Down Already. Already read Fuckin' Lie Down Already and it was an excellent novella. I'm reading Clown in the Moonlight right now and it's really good so far. Tom is a super talented author and is well loved by other authors of all genre's. I lost my dad to a brain tumor on Valentines Day when I was eight years old. Thankfully, modern medicine has come along ways since the eighties. My thoughts and good wishes go out to his family and friends for a complete recovery. Crossword Press is donating 100% of his digital books sales to help with medical costs. Everyone, please support. He has books in several genres so there should be something for everyone.
