He passed peacefully last night shortly after midnight. You have all been so supportive through these last few years and I'll never be able to thank you enough. It's been a tough battle, but he never once complained through it all. But please know all the posts you made each time we went to the hospital were read to him. And while he never quite understood how so many people he never met could care as much and say such kind things; every single one of the messages/posts cheered him up when he needed it the most. The funeral is scheduled for Thursday and then I'll start to get back into the swing of things with NEP. I still owe a number of people emails on direct pre-orders of MASTER OF THE MOORS and I do apologize for taking longer than I ever imagined on it. Again I can't thank you all enough. I really believe the hundreds of thoughts and prayers from you all kept him with us much longer than any doctor imagined. He lived a good 74 years and I'm lucky to have been able to be next to him and say goodbye so I'm very grateful. Losing your father while only being a 33-year-old kid is hard, but I'll make it through all of this. Right now I'm being strong for my poor mother while at the same time trying to find the words to explain to my 9 and 11 year-olds that grandpa isn't with us anymore. I'm also trying to write his obituary, but I'm having a tough time to find the words to write down for it and do him and my family the justice he deserves. And not become too much of a basketcase through it all. If you could all do one thing for me, please let anyone you know that might be a friend/acquaintance of mine what has happened as a lot of people don't keep reading a thread, but rather just the title, so they are emailing me to ask how he's doing and I'm not strong enough of a person to keep replying and telling them that's he's not with us anymore. Finally, if you know my home number and would like to leave a voicemail or even maybe catch me while I'm home please do. I wouldn't mind at all to hear a friendly voice while trying to cope with all of this. Love you all and thank you again for everything, |
