Post subject:  Crossroad Press Audiobooks - Some Questions .. Some news

We're about to have five completed audiobooks to offer at Crossroad Press. We are also about to offer subscriptions on e-BOOKS and will soon sort out the same sort of deal on Audio...but for the moment, here's what I can tell you.

You will be able to get a 6 month subscription for e-BOOKS for $24.00. This works out to about $3.99 a book. There will be a choice of three books each month. You will be able to get a 12 month subscription for $35. This is about $2.99 a book - once a month, same deal, each month there will be three titles to choose from. I will make exceptions for customers who have already ordered and read too many of the titles on a case-by-case basis. I also have a lot of new books lined up, so there will be plenty to choose from.

I have some audiobook questions.

I plan to offer mp3 downloads at this time, just like at Audible - and just like I do on the current titles we carry - titles I didn't direct or produce. Is there a desire - do you think - for physical CDS as well? They would (of course) cost more, due to production.

Another question - audio samples. Long? Short? I know you can get a feel for the narrator in a pretty short segment...but I'm thinking a longer segment so you also get hooked on the book itself? Thoughts?

Once I have crunched the numbers and figured out how much other retailers will take as their cut on audiobooks, I can figure out what to charge for them. I intend to undercut Amazon and Audible as much as possible...but I have to make back the money for the narrators and engineers as quickly as possible, so they can't be dirt cheap either.

What I CAN offer, and will as soon as I'm sure all the principles are on board with it, is to come up with another subscription that allows you to pay on a monthly basis for "credits" like they do at Audible...one credit usually being one book. These narrators are very good, and the engineers are some of the same working with Brilliance Audio and Audible themselves...there will be no lack of quality.

Any feedback is cherished. Also, we are negotiating with Sirius XM Book radio to feature a couple of our titles...more on that later.

Post subject:  QUICK UPDATE

Quick update : the plugin for adding mp3 samples to the audio books is working great now. The Cletus Book is nearly done!

More soon.
