Kin a novel by Kealan Patrick Burke About the Book: On a scorching hot summer day in Elkwood, Alabama, Claire Lambert staggers naked, wounded, and half-blind away from the scene of an atrocity. She is the sole survivor of a nightmare that claimed her friends, and even as she prays for rescue, the killers — a family of cannibalistic lunatics — are closing in. A soldier suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder returns from Iraq to the news that his brother is among the murdered in Elkwood. In snowbound Detroit, a waitress trapped in an abusive relationship gets an unexpected visit that will lead to bloodshed and send her back on the road to a past she has spent years trying to outrun. And Claire, the only survivor of the Elkwood Massacre, haunted by her dead friends, dreams of vengeance… a dream which will be realized as grief and rage turn good people into cold-blooded murderers and force alliances among strangers. It’s time to return to Elkwood. In the spirit of such iconic horror classics as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Deliverance, Kin begins at the end and studies the possible aftermath for the survivors of such traumas upon their return to the real world — the guilt, the grief, the thirst for revenge — and sets them on an unthinkable journey… back into the heart of darkness. . Tony, I designed the cover. Gail Cross and the folks at CD smoothed out the kinks to make it look considerably better. Kealan |

I see Kealan dodged the question of whether it's somebody we know. I always thought Kealan looked suspicious - especially those photos of him with his green skin. |

Ha! I assumed Tony was asking if the artist was anyone we know. |

I already told Kealan I'd ordered this on Facebook. Cemetery Dance sent me a nifty little coupon special to Kin, and I just had to use it. Will you be at Context this year, Kealan? It's maybe a 10 minute drive up 270 to 23 from my house. This should be out in time for it, shouldn't it? Thad |

Well, he did dodge the question! Of course I was talking about the cover. I'm in love! |

Thad, I may have to make Context this year. Now that I don't drink anymore, I may even remember some of it. And yes, KIN should be out by then, so I'll be sure to bring some copies. Kealan |

I hope to pre-order this tomorrow. I have the same nifty coupon as well. I really don't have the money to spend, but I have to get it. It's a law, I think. (where have I heard that before?) |

Craig: Yes it is! I won't tell you what happens if you don't buy it, but think "The Library Policeman"... |

I somehow missed in my email that the coupon for KIN was only good if I pre-ordered Wednesday or Thursday. |

I just got an email from Cemetery Dance for 50% off ANY in-stock title, this weekend only. I went to the website, only to be reminded that KIN is not yet in-stock. |

Craig: On the upside, CD offer discount coupons quite often, so I'm sure after KIN is released, they'll do it again. Kealan |
