Post subject: | THE BLUE HERON |
I have finished a novella, THE BLUE HERON, which is a little over 18K words long and sent it to my three 1st readers. Two have returned their comments, positive thumbs up with two minor quibbles that I'm attending to. I await the last reader's comments, an MFA in writing who is a bearcat. I hope to submit this to an interested publisher before taking off to see my grandkids for Christmas. The story has no fantasy, sf, or real horror elements. I'd call it a dark, travelogue thriller (my category). I await the last reaction. Gene |

I've got a publisher who has accepted THE BLUE HERON, and we're working out contract details. Will post *who* when I see an acceptable contract. Gene |

Dark Regions Press will be taking pre-orders for a deluxe edition of THE BLUE HERON. They hope to be able to bring 25 convention copies for WHC in Salt Lake City at the end of March. If you liked RUSTING CHICKENS I think you might like THE BLUE HERON, although it has no fantasy, horror, or sf tropes. Gene |

Looking forward to it, but I'll have to wait for the un deluxe version. Congrats on making the final Stoker ballot 3 times Gene. I am really excited for you. |

Thanks, Tony, the Stoker nominations are indeed flattering, regardless if this is as far as I go. The 25 copies of THE BLUE HERON that DRP bring out will be trade paperbacks, I think. I'll keep everyone up to date on that. Couple more kind of exciting items in the wind, but not quite pinned down yet. We'll see. Gene |

Dark Regions Press will be taking pre-orders soon for 13 deluxe editions of THE BLUE HERON. In addition they will bring a limited number of trade paperbacks to WHC in Salt Lake City at the end of March. These 25 or so TPBs will be the only ones of this edition available. At the end of the year (probably first of 2013) THE BLUE HERON will be part of a TPB Double like Ace used to do. The other novella will be written by Gord Rollo. |

There will be a special signing of TPB copies of THE BLUE HERON at the Dark Region Press table at WHC in Salt Lake City. Friday, the 30th at 1:30. I think these 25 or so copies are the only individual TPBs to be printed of this novella. Come by and check out the really stunning cover by Wayne Miller. See you there, Gene |

Apparently, THE BLUE HERON deluxe sold out four hours after Dark Regions press announced. So, now, I guess folks should watch the early winter release of an Ace-like-double Trade paperback to be released by Dark Regions Press. It will feature THE BLUE HERON and RED CROSS by Gord Rollo. thanks for the support, Gene |
