Enjoyed the podcast as always! Thanks for all the work you all put into it.

Jason, I enjoy your take on movie but I have to disagree on Insidious. It's my favorite horror movie of all time. I loved it. I also loved American Horror Story. I will agree that that Dale and ... well I can't remember the other guys name at the moment but Vs. Evil was a really fun film. Either way I was glad to hear you back on POH.

Thanks, Matt! Great to be back, and always great to hear from ya'.

Yeah, I think I've already received six e-mails and messages concerning this episode. Each of them included a death threat.

When a movie comes out that has huge hype behind it I always bring a specific horror movie junkie friend of mine along to watch with me, and Insidious was that film for us this year. I always push aside hype now, because it will always be a let down. With that in mind, my biggest problem with the flick was that the second half couldn't live up to what the first half established. Steering away from spoilers, I found the build up for "the Further" and what happened within quite a let-down. It was like having a hot chick come on to you at the bar then once you reach the hotel room she untucks and asks, "OK, who's 'bottom'?" My second "bleh" with it was they appeared to not know who they wanted the antagonist to be. Like they had a conference about the script, couldn't come to an agreement, and just said, "Y'know what? Let's just put it all in there." It felt like a rehashed version of Poltergeist without Zelda Rubenstein.

Shamefully, I hyped American Horror Story for myself. Given my feelings about The Walking Dead this season, I wanted that show to rock. At the end of every episode I'd look over at my wife with a sad smile and say, "That was awesome, right?!" Almost the same deal as with Insidious, I think the first half set up a great foundation and then, when things got real (or a relative facsimile thereof) it got muddled and tripped over the amount of things it was trying to pack in. I get that it was a small season and they wanted to cram in all the history, which was cool, but I'm left wondering how much more personality the writers could've tucked in there if only it had been stretched out farther or had the fat trimmed. And speaking of the writers, you could tell the Nip / Tuck guys and gals were on the job. Think there was maybe one episode that didn't have a male buttocks, masturbation, or lukewarm ghost sex. And the situation with the daughter, the episode that ended with her being held in the shower--I remember telling my wife what would probably be the case. And it was. And I was a sad panda.

Although Jessica Lange's character made it all worthwhile in the end. What a great character!
