There’s just something about Halloween that brings us back to our childhood. Maybe it’s rediscovering a creative costume or remembering the joy of finding a king-size candy bar in our trick-or-treat haul. Maybe it stems from watching spooky Halloween movies. To capture the nostalgia of Halloween, we used Google Trends to analyze movies that are available to stream right now and determine each state’s favorite spooky film for kids.

Jack Skellington captured the hearts of most Americans, followed by E.T., Gremlins, and other creatures and heroes whose popularity has only increased with time. We also found that Utah, Wyoming, and New Mexico are the top three states that are most obsessed with spooky movies.

With this map, families can decide what to stream this Halloween, whether they stick with their state’s favorite or try watch something new.
