Author’s Notes
Matthew Warner

With the Eyes of a Writer

Before hiring me to write "Author's Notes" for Horror World, the estimable Nanci Kalanta commissioned a new short story from me for the month of May 2005. As it is now May, I have the heady—and slightly embarrassing—privilege of furnishing half the website's monthly content. So … welcome to the Matt & Matt Show. Please take a seat in the front row and have some popcorn.

This unique situation is perhaps my only opportunity to give a behind-the-scenes look at the composition of a story in which I know exactly what the writer went through. I also learned something profound while doing this one, and I'd like to share it with you.
