I just saw this video last night, and thought the rendition of the song was amazing - it starts off slow and slowly builds to a crescendo. Even if you aren't a Green Day fan, I'd recommend it. I think it must be from the Broadway production of "American Idiot" - basically a whole chorus performing.
Listening to Thousand Foot Krutch's brand new album which came out Tuesday, The End is Where We Begin. Excellent stuff, right up there with my other favorite of theirs, Welcome to the Masquerade. I've had the pleasure of seeing them live twice, most recently a month ago in Wichita - excellent live band.

John Lennon included a postcard in his Imagine album that contained an image of him mocking the McCartney album cover.

My favorite of all of her albums, and I have all of them up to Mingus. Sometimes I have to leave my YES and Crimson and Green Day and Al Stewart and Beatles and Wakeman in the bin and play some Joni.

I heard an interview with Greg Lake where the question was: favorite album he was on? First thought: Trilogy, but he chose this, "In The Court of the Crimson King" by King Crimson, their first LP. "It was effortless," Lake said. I first listened to this album in 1969 when it came out, in 9th Grade, and I didn't get it. On to 1973, college, with "Fragile" and "Close To The Edge" under my belt, I got it.
one of my employees let me borrow a bunch of CDs and i put them all on my ipod... i'm really enjoying the hell out of Five Finger Death Punch right now and Lamb of God... also a bunch of Killswitch Engage.
Listening to Rush Clockwork Angels... its my first Rush album, (yes i know a bunch of their stuff but this is the first i've bought and listened to entirely, a friend of mind is letting me go thru his collection and i will bruning them to my itunes soonish... )
also since Randy Blythe was freed more Lamb of God!

Grrrrr, hit a logic problem in one of Mark's chapters, so I've cranked up that particular character's compilation. Hopefully it'll offer up the necessary inspiration:
Cruel - Thomas Dolby Judith - A Perfect Circle Backstreet Luv - Curved Air Big Empty - Stone Temple Pilots Pretty Noose - Soundgarden etc...
Working through a prolonged scene of intense violent action and tragic consequence. Need inspiration, something dark yet melodic, slightly urban yet urbane, no wimpiness allowed...

Hey, Tt .... When I listed Pet Sounds up there, I forgot to ask you what you think of it. I mean really think of it in terms of all the critics and music historians going back and forth over whether it's the genius album Brian Wilson followers say it is, or everything negative I've heard- from calling it nothing more than Brian Wilson on drugs, that it's depressing cry in your beer music, and other such bullshit.
Personally, I've always thought Brian Wilson was a kind of musical genius with the way he writes and uses melodies. I mean, I can remember listening to Endless Summer when I was only eight. The only other place I've heard melody like that is in The Beatles. And I think all the drama started when Brian Wilson said Pet Sounds was his answer to Sgt. Pepper. I wasn't even alive back then, so I'm going on everything I've read and seen documentary wise.
