Random Thoughts And Observations: The Sequel

Over the past week or so, I've had so many things happen concerning my writing (a lot of which I can't even talk about here) that I'm really getting excited about jumping back into the waters after a long layoff (minus the flash fiction). I can't remember the last time I was this giddy, or had so many story ideas rolling around in my brain.

First, though, I need to finish this 8-pages minimum paper for my American Lit II class. I'm writing about about feminism and isolation in Charlotte Perkins Gilman's The Yellow Wallpaper. It's due tomorrow by 11:59 p.m. Then it's time to get hot and heavy on some of my own stuff.

As a side note: Geez, this story still freaks me out.

Side note #2: I got a couple reading worksheets back in this American Lit II class, which actually bumped up my overall grade from a 99.65% to a 99.69%. :lol

Good going. I gotta finish writing my paper on Freud and his idea of "Narcissism of Minor Differences". Still not sure where it's going but I have until next Friday to finish it. At least you get to write a paper on something you enjoy.

I just sold a story to a British market, and am waiting for the contract to arrive. That was a nice and total surprise. I'm currently working on the interior illustrations for Brett McBean's third book in his Jungle trilogy, for Tasmaniac. Hot on the heels of that is another illustration project - cover and interiors - for a writer we all know and love, and just today I was approached by a publisher I never did work for before, to do a cover for another writer I love to illustrate. Looking forward to all of it. I am also working the kinks out of plotting a ghastly story about an art student who visits the dissecting labs of his University medical school to sketch the dismembered corpses, and is shown a very peculier meneges caul....writing about what you know has its advantages.

When I retire from my day job at the end of November, I hope to be able to do this stuff full time at last!

Yay! Federal income taxes back and school is paid for! My russian language class got used as a credit in humanites not as an elective. The counselor is going to try to use a couple of classes I took when I was welding to fulfill my electives credits.

Yes; shame on him! Every now and then when I am food shopping I stop at the aisle that has the cards and I think: whose birthday is coming up? May is easy: it is filled with my son's birthday (11th), my brother's (15th), my niece Jessica's (19th) (it's ALL about Jessie, btw), and mine. Maybe, it will also be the birthday month of my soon-to-arrive grandson, who is officially supposed to arrive on June 1. Nanci, I will let you and Phil know if you want to stop by the hospital to say hi. I already got my son two of those Amazon hardcover editions of Kurt Vonnegut's early and middle novels and stories. Jus is a big fan of Vonnegut, so I know he will like getting these books. I mean, what better present is there (besides money and real estate) than books?

I slept well for the first time since last December when I had my shoulder operation. I went to the doctor yesterday and he saw I was like a zombie. He gave me a steroid injection and said it should help. It still hurt, but I slept through the night. They don't know whats wrong, he thinks it might be the muscle (duh). I have to go back in 6 weeks and if its no better they are going to do some nerve damage tests. I sometimes wake up in the morning with my arm feeling completely dead, right to the fingertips. I'm thinking something happened to my shoulder during the operation, and I am really praying that it didn't.

My humanities Professor like my capstone paper so much he's gonna write a letter of recommendation for me to give to Old Dominion University. He only gives out 3 or 4. He's also encouraging me to turn my paper into a full research paper.
