I often wonder what my mailman thinks. One day he's delivering all these bibles, religious pamphlets, and christian books, and the next day he's delivering stuff from The Horror Mall and Uninvited Books.

I got every major project done that I had planned this weekend! Yay!

This morning I was up at 5:30, made breakfast, and borrowed my neighbors lawn mower (mine broke on me yesterday) and got the back 9 mowed! Got the pole beans in. Put up the hook for a planter over the front door. Filled up three planters with soil (one for the door, two for the birdhouses) and got flowers in them. Put mulch around the flower beds in the front and side of the house.

The last two days I spent planting the gardens. The veggie garden (brussel sprouts, broccoli, tomatoes, romaine, cukes, squash, and non pole beans. In the front I put in coleus, and impatient's, I put impatient's at the side of the house too. I also put in some more lupine in my wild garden. And I mowed the front nine before my mower quit.

When my mower died, I took the whole thing apart, put it back together again, and still no dice. I also discovered I had a part left over. I had to cart it down to the repair place and even though they were closing, they were kind enough to let me in.

And in the middle of all this yesterday, a pal spent an hour on the phone with me proofing my new story! And thanks again my friend!

My back is killing me and I still have to do some clean up work and cut up a watermelon. I love summer. Ribs on the grill tonight, and a big family get together tomorrow. Did I mention I love summer?

I know remember why I prefer physics to algebra...

So frelling hot today. One of the hottest days yet and I had to gather carts and load cars for eight hours. Fun squared.

Yesterday we went to the Frontier Culture Museum here in town, had a nice dinner in Waynesboro - kobe beef (meh - don't understand what all the fuss is about).

Today we drove Skyline Drive (6 hours) - it's beautiful!

Tomorrow I think I'll veg.

For weeks I have seen this little bird flying into my rosebush. To eat bugs I assumed. Instead today I found this....

The problem is we just turned the sprinklers on the other day so we don't know if that scared them away. We haven't seen the birds since we found the nest. We have turned the sprinklers off until we know for sure if the birds are there or gone.
The bird is tiny. About 3 1/2 inches. It is called a Bushtit.

No jokes. Poor little birdies.

Big storms heading our way. Tornado warnings for the next 2 hours. Lots of thunder outside now, but not much rain. T.V. shows it heading our way. Two tornado's in Mass. already and our plant got struck by lightening (took out our sprinkler system).

Just waiting now....

I just got the fastest rejection notice in history! I wrote a story a few years back called Eyes. I only submitted it once and got a personal note saying it was good and interesting, but not weird enough for the publication. I was dejected because I thought it was plenty weird and filed it away.

The other day I saw a magazine that published weird stories and I remembered Eyes so I sent it to them. They have this automated submission form that I had never seen before but I gave it a whirl. After submitting it, I got an email back 5 minutes later, automated of course, saying it was rejected. Instead of being crushed this time, I just laughed. It would take more time to open the email, and read half the story than it did to reject it. I guess I am the victim of some computer picking up something in the submission form and rejecting it. So once again, the story goes back into hibernation.

Just bought tickets for my nephew and I to see Foo Fighters at Nationwide Arena in September.
