After Innswich Horror I read my first Lansdale novel Cold In July and The Cyesolagniac. Now I'm about 120 pages into Laymon's Endless Night. Don't know what to make of this so far.
Is Endless Night the one with the female house sitter who has an unwelcome midnight pool swimmer? So many of Laymon's titles have "night" in them it is hard to remember............If that is the one, do the bodies ever pile up.........fun fun read. I just finished reading a collection of horror Straub edited. Great Elizabeth Hand story. Fun Steven King and it has 20th Century Ghost by King's son Joe Hill. Those three stories were the cream of the crop. Most of the rest reminded me why I quit trying to read all new horror that comes out........Of course I only finish about one in four books I pick up. I have read most Lansdale. A lotta good reads until the last decade or so. The Hap and Leonard series picks up after that first novel. Worth it keeping on reading those. Heading into YACCUB'S CURSE by Wrath James White next. I was pretty busy when I first picked it up but I got a feeling about this one..............
Little over half-way through Shutter Island. Haven't seen the movie, and wasn't sure what to expect from the novel. It has most of the tropes of your classic gothic-horror novel: a nuthouse, heavy rainstorm (that turns into a hurricane), people who run the nuthouse behaving as oddly as the patients. I figured it would be so full of cliches it would be unreadable. So far, while there is a bit of that been-there-done-that feeling, it's pretty good. Just from my reading, though, and knowing a little about the movie's casting, Michelle Williams and DeCaprio were wrong for their parts.
Reading Dan Simmon's 'BLACK HILLS', and having trouble following it, but I love his writing. Also reading F. Paul Wilson's 'BY THE SWORD', and it is as good as Repairman Jack gets. Need to get caught up! Bob

I finished up both The Black Train and The Innswich Horror. I have a huge TBR pile, so i'm gonna try to finish up The Golem and also try to finish up Lonesome Dove while I wait for Ken Follett's Fall of Giants and Steven Saylor's sequal to Roma. Also waiting for Lucifer's Lottery. Damn, sometimes I wish I could just sit at home and get paid to read lol.

I've gotta add that after I finished The Black Train I decided to go watch the Perseid meteor shower. I drove out to this wetlands area in the middle of nowhere; there was no moon and a couple hundred feet from the parking area was a truck parked off the road. I have to say that book succeeded in creeping me the fuck out lol. I only stayed out about 15 minutes before I decided that I was way too creeped out to stay any longer. So thank you, Mr. Lee for creeping me out.

Messenger was my first Lee novel and the one that made me look for more of his work. So far it's my favorite of his Leisure titles. But I've only read In The Year Of Our Lord, Slither, Monstrosity and Flesh Gothic besides Messenger. I also own The Backwoods and Black Train but I like his small press work (of which I already own about half of) a lot more and will read more of it before I continue with his Leisure titles.

I'm trying to finish up The Golem now. Just got paid today so I went to the local used bookstore cuz I seen they had some of Lee's Leisure books. Unfortunately the only one they had that I needed was Infernal Angel...cats ruined my copy. Also picked up Laymon's Island, and Ketchum's Offseason and Offspring. Then went to local independant bookseller and bought Laymon's Friday Night in Beast House and Flesh, and Everson's Siren. Just not sure which one I wanna start after The Golem.

Holy shit, T. You have got some reading there. For some reason I can't remember Laymon's FLESH. I know I have read it........... ISLAND is pretty cool. Lots of people consider it their favorite of his. I know I like it. Ketchum's Offseason. He hits on some good stuff there. The author's first book. Start out with a bang! Everson's last novel was real cool. Enjoyed it a bunch. I should get off my ass and get SIREN also. Still reading YACCUB'S CURSE. It has got me in it's grip this time. I got the flavor........

Just finished up House Infernal and will probly finish up Ketchum's Offspring now. I have Header 2 on order and should be getting Ketchum's The Girl Next Door today. House Infernal was great as usual, and definitely makes me wanna order Infernally Yours now but i'm gonna have to wait until payday next week. I still have both Brides of the Impaler and Slither left to finish.

Tony: thanks, first, for the orders, and thanks too for the kind words on House Infernal. I always liked that one. I think you'll get a kick out of Header 2 (just don't eatbefore readinig it) and Lucifer's Lottery whenever it does wind up being released.
