Just finished John Everson's The 13th and now I'm going to tackle Gord Rollo's Crimson.

I just read "The Room in the Castle" by Ramsey Campbell, my fave modern horror writer. It's an HPL story and amazing in that Campbell was only a teenager when he wrote it--outrageous skills for someone that young. Gonna read more HPL tonight. HAppy thanksgiving!
Edward Lee
PS-I'm halfway done with Header sequel script. It's pretty cool!

I just finished reading Wrath James White's Succulent Prey. I liked it. I kind of felt sympathy for Joe. Being a student of psychology and also reading a lot about serial killers, really made me enjoy it even more. Would like to read more of his work. Before that I read J.F. Gonzalez's Survivor. One of the best novels out there. I still have about 5 Edward Lee's waiting to be read. Just trying to mix things up a bit.
Reading Ronald Kelly's Midnight Grinding and Other Twilight Terrors....and really digging it.

Just finished Slither a few weeks ago, would've finished sooner but worms, snakes, spiders, shit like that just creeps me out. But I did enjoy it even with the wileys. Took a break from Lovecraft for a bit, so I am in the middle of 3 different ones right now. The Source by Brian Lumley (book 3 in the Necroscope series, not as impressed with this one as I was the 1st 2.) The Giver by Lois Lowry, which is actually a kids books but is a creepy and strange little book surprisingly enough. And last and most defintely not least as I saved the best for last ... The Black Train by our own Mr. Edward Lee.
By the way thanks for the acknowledgement in The Black Train. I was really shocked and thrilled to see my screen name in there. Nice to see someone you respect and have such an appreciation for actually show their appreciation to the fans.
Well back to work and once I get my laptop for Christmas and my wi-fi fixed I will be on here a little more often. Thanks again and keep up the great writing .
If I don't get on here before Christmas ... Happy holidays to all and stay scared.
The Giver, huh? Wow, I haven't read that book in years. I probably haven't even heard about it in around a decade or so (heh, shows my age a little). I remember loving that book when I was younger, and that ending has stuck with me since I first put it down and probably influenced my own writings as well. As for me, I'm currently reading Under the Dome and a random book on serial killers. I picked up The Black Train yesterday and I talked my sister into ordering me Gast for Christmas, so once I'm finished with Under the Dome I will jump into those back to back.
Decided to read Santa Steps Out by Robert Devereaux instead of Black Train (Sorry Ed). What a bizarre and twisted novel. Perfect for this time of year. A great read.
Just finished up Michael McBride's The Infected and have moved on to Jeff Strand's Disposal. You know, that would be a crazy collaboration: Jeff Strand and Edward Lee.......think of all the possibilities, they're just endless.

I'm currently reading Fistful of Feet. Almost done, then it's on to The Black Train, then Gast. I was originally going to read them in the opposite order, but I'm tired of waiting for Gast to arrive, and The Black Train has been calling to me. Ha ha.
I have just ordered The Bighead(Author's Preferred Version),Goon(Micha Hayes Illustrated Edition),and Slither. They are my first Lee books, and The Bighead will be the first one I read.I can't wait to tear into it!! I picked up Header The Movie from Netflix and was blown away by the story. Was looking to get my hands on a copy of Header, but was shocked and disappointed to find it out of print and only available to me in a copy of Sex,Drugs and Power Tools that i found on ebay for $300.So I fought with myself over paying the coke dealer or getting the book.Unfortunately the dealer won after he shoved a 9mm down my throat and then threatened to sodomize my wife with it. He got his cash and i had to drop the price range a bit,but I think it was for the best
Southern Blood, if you liked the Header movie, you'll love The Bighead. It's one of my favorites of Lee's. I just came into possession of Goon recently but haven't sat down to read it, yet. And good news about Header: Lee says it's going to be reprinted, he just doesn't know when, for sure, other than it's coming.
Right now I'm reading Bryan Smith's Freakshow and then I'm onto Wrath's The Ressurectionist.

Babaganoosh, how are you liking Freakshow? I have that in the "To Read Pile" and Smith is a fellow Tennessean, so I have high hopes.
Right now I'm reading Murder In the Raw by pulpster Bruno Fischer. He wrote some short stories for the Shudder Pulps in the late 1930's that I think Lee would be proud of. They can still make you wince 70 years later. An example: he wrote one called "Fresh Fiances for the Devil's Daughter" under the pseudonym Russell Gray, which can be downloaded/read here:
darkthrone: The first chapter for me was rough to get through but after that it's going pretty smooth. I'm maybe 40 pages into the book and so far I'm liking it. It came highly recommended from the other Bryan Smith fans. When I'm reading it I keep thinking of a darker, more mature version of Killer Klowns from Outer Space. But yeah, I would definitely give it a shot.

Almost Transparent Blue was pretty awful. 126 pages of Japanese youths taking drugs and fucking. No story whatsoever but it was probably pretty relevant in 1976's Japan. Maybe kind of an literary equivalent to that movie KIDS. I didn't enjoy reading it, though. Murakami's later books like IN THE MISO SOUP and especially COIN LOCKER BABIES are much better, in my opinion.
Now I'm digging into FLICKER by Theodore Roszak. Wanted to read it years ago when Aronofsky was set to direct a film of it but I must have been far from the only one who got curious based on that and so used copies (it was out of print) sold for silly prices. Luckily it's back in print now and I can afford to satisfy my curiosity at last.
Last Saturday morning my sister says "hey, you gonna watch that Header movie?" "Yep, that's just what I was planning to do." "I wanna see it too." "Alrighty.....this oughta be fun!" "What??" "Oh, nothing..." She's never read any of your work before. . . .. . . ...
We're watching, and we hear the drill/saw switch on, my sister says "Hmm, they're not.......nahhh." Couple of seconds later: "They're not gonna fuck that girl's head....they're NOT gonna fuck that girl's head......Huh, they're fuckin that girls head!" Then Granpa was helped up to get himself a piece, and she says "Nuh uh, Granpa?? EWWWWWWWWWWW."
The funniest thing, when the ending came, she was more than ready for the policeman's girlfriend to get a Heada' !!!
