HEADER - THE MOVIE!!!
After many years of anticipation, it is here: Ed Lee's first movie! I am so happy for you, man. Watched it tonight, and it was pretty fuckin good. The acting was pretty good for a low budget film (you and Dallas were amazing in your cameo's - I was impressed with your acting ability!), the violence was intense, and the story was right on. I know you are so proud of this, Lee, and it is well deserved.
I loved the interviews both you and Dallas gave in the Special Features. I was cracking up at you reading your lines - only to forget them, and start cursing at the interviewer. Awesome.
Here's hoping it sells well. And thanks for being so cool to sign the cover.

I just finished the movie, fucking awesome! They did a really good job with the Header scenes and the make-up fx were top-notch! Very gross stuff. My only gripe is the sound quality on Grandpap's lines is a little off so it was hard to understand him, but other than that the movie kicked ass!
I loved the Lee and Ketchum cameos, nice southern accent Ed! Ketchums facial expression was priceless in that scene!
I'm thrilled you liked it; thanks for picking it up. Here's the kick in the ass. I don't have a copy yet! I have one of the original screeners but I don't have a Snyapse copy and, hence, haven't seen the special features yet. I'm gonna have to BUY my own movie, I think. But I ain't complaining. I think it's a great flick. Hopefully it wil be shown at Horrorfind and Killer Con. Oh, and Rue Morge just did a full page article on it--very cool.
On a side note, just a day or so ago, I got a brainstorm idea for HEADER 3. THE SIXTUS is due into my publisher on November 1st. You can bet that on November 2nd, I'll be starting HEADER 3.
Really looking forward to this flick! When I heard that Ed was doing HEADER 2, I thought *that* was great news, and now there's gonna be a third one? It just gets better. Unlike some authors who don't give a flip about the fans, Mr. Lee delivers!!!
I recently got my notice from Camelot telling me that the dvd and chapbook will be shipping soon. Yay!! And Header 3? Hot damn, the news just keeps getting better.

I got this last week along with the chapbook (great little read, btw).
HEADER was great. I was very relieved that the filmmakers didn't go the campy route which is easy to do when dealing with such a disturbing subject (such as a "header"). But also, it did have some black humor so the subject matter wasn't so heavy as to be depressing. The actors who played Travis and grandpappy were awesome. The perfect blend of hick and psychopath. Jake Suffian (as Stewart) was good, too, but some of his angry parts were overacted, I thought.
Overall, this is a future cult classic for sure. I would love to see more Lee works make it to the "screen"... I'd love to see The House or The Pig though some of that might be pretty difficult to film..
Anyway, I'm glad I nabbed a copy and I'm going to love sharing this with unsuspecting friends!

My order should arrive from Camelot any time now, and I'm way stoked! Almost missed out on the chapbook! That's what I get for neglecting to come to the forum in some time. Thankfully Splatterhead gave me the heads up. Bastard already got his, and said the chapbook was awesome. I can't wait to see the film, I'm still baffled as to how that story can be pulled off in a film format. From what I've read here though it's looking to be a great, sick-fun time. Keep up the great work Ed, The Golem was fantastic.
Damn, I thought I was the only one to hve a penis in a penis scene. shucks! Btw, I just got a copy of the Synapse versino of HEADER and am thrilled. The interviews are dynamite (and mine's hilarious 'cos I keep blowingmy lines) and, I swear, the distributor put some film-look-like process on the master 'cos the movie just looks much richer than the original screener I saw. I couldn't be happier!

Got my copy last week, and have watched it a few times now. I have to say that the film is definitely destined to be a cult classic. The crew definitely pulled it off! Haven't had a chance to read the chapbook yet, which may sound strange considering it's quite short, but want to be able to read it all in one burst uninterrupted, and the family has not been allowing much free time. But even my fiance, who is easily offended and grossed out, loved the film. Usually any film adaptation of a book sucks, so this was definitely a pleasant surprise!
horrifyingly erotic and twisted--This film does what those imitation films claim to do! Loved every sickening minute of it! Shear genius--Props fellas!

I finally got to see this. Holy shit, the movie was awesome. I was so impressed with how the filmmaker managed to pull off such an extreme story. It really retained the down and dirty feel that I crave from Lee books.
Is there any news on what the filmmakers are going to do next?

I just finally got around to watching this one myself. As someone who's well familiar with the original novella, having read it three times, it was a real pleasure to see such a faithful adaptation. Usually when I watch an adaptation of a book I like I have to make compromises ("It's good when taken on its own terms" or "Well, at least they kept the tone of the novel") to be able to enjoy it but in the case of HEADER the movie is the novella. Nothing was changed and almost every single detail made it into the movie.
Glad you all liked it, and thanks hugely for picking it up. The only thing I didn't like about it was this: it reminded me how friggin' FAST my beard has gone gray! I'll have to get dye or something. A bunch of my friends down here bought it and, well, have been looking at me oddly ever since--so I guess that's a good thing. I know the producers have several projects they're trying to get financing for but got no idea what they are. I'll be seeing them at Horrorfind in Sept and giving them the rundown on my idea for HEADER 3, which I hope to start in a month or two. I'm pretty geared up about it.

I am very happy at present! I just purchased the Header dvd from a private seller on amazon for cheap and, I just also picked up The Golem and Brides of the Impaler!! Just started reading The Golem and it's already got it's meat hooks stuck into me. I really dig your style of horror Ed. Sick and twisted is the only fix I ever need!
Watched this the other day and it was fucked! I loved every second of it! I couldn't believe how messed up the ending was. What did I expect from Syanpse (my favorite company!) though? Three cheers for Edward Lee in his acting debut as well! I truly did enjoy it very much and hopefully one day can read the chapbook as well.
Harvester: HAUNTER will be out as an affordable trade pb in a year, and there'll be other cool stuff coming out as well. Thanks as always for your support!
JWAR: many thanks for the kind words! I still don't have any info on when the HEADER reprint novella will be out, but I KNOW it will be released eventually. I'll keep ya posted.
I've got a couple projects optioned (knock on wood) plus in a few weeks I'm going to start a third HEADER sequel, screenplay first. (Knock on wood twice!) I'll be seeing the producers end of Sept; hopefully they'll like the idea
Just watched this the night before last. I haven't read the book yet, but of course I have to now! I loved the movie. I thought it really got the tone right, it was over the top and funny, but disturbing and disgusting as all hell at the same time. Great that there are interviews with Lee on there, as well. I didn't know that Edward Lee was a pseudonym, so I feel kind of embarrassed for writing 'Mr. Lee' on here, must seem kind of silly to Lee. Lee and Ketchum were great in their cameos. One of my favorite quotes from the Lee interview went something like this:
Lee: Yes, my mother has all my books.
Interviewer: Has she read any of them?
Lee: No. I can tell she hasn't because she still speaks to me.
Great stuff! I look forward to seeing more cinematic Lee adaptations in the future.
