LOST TRIBE error

It has been brought to our attention by one of our lettered buyers that both the lettered and the #'d edition of LOST TRIBE have a page misnumbering problem. The page after 30 starts again with 23 and continues from there. This mistake DOES NOT affect the story, or readability of the book. NO text has been repeated or deleted.
We have put new checks and balances in place to prevent reoccurence.
Ultimately the repsonsibility lies with me, the publisher. If any of you feel that this error affects the collectibility or desirability of this title, you can return it for a full refund. Obviously I am hoping this is not the case, as the financial impact could be devastating.
We are VERY SORRY for this, and hope that this error does not effect the relationship with you the customer. We will continue to strive to put out the best in dark fiction, in an affordable and attractive package, and do so for many years to come.
Sincerely, Roy Robbins Owner.

Yes, the paging goes 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 23, 24...etc... but it doesn't effect the story at all. If the pages repeated, it would be distracting (but not *gasp* returnable!), but they do not. I guess most of us were so busy looking at the words to notice.
I was reading a book on a long flight back from Ireland, when suddenly I came to 30 missing pages at a critical point. It pissed me off, because I never discovered *what* happened at that crucial juncture of the story after investing several hours of reading time. But I'm guessing I wouldn't be bothered about mis-numbering that leaves the story unaffected. But I'd certainly like to hear readers/collectors viewpoints on this. Of course I wish it hadn't happened. But I guess it's a very small part of life's rich pageant. Sorry to anyone offended, Gene
Missing pages SUCK. I BookMooch and Paperback swap a lot, and sometimes you get books with missing pages, but usually they are children's books (which sucks for kids!). I recently got a version of Hansel and Gretel that I had grown up with to share with my kids. My son watched me open it asked me to read it to him immediately. So, I did… Kids go into the forest, and then (*SPOILER* ha ha ha ha) the girl pushes a witch into the oven, and the kids go home again. The End. I tried to stop at the point where I noticed pages were missing, but my son insisted that I read what was there. That book got recycled. I also got a Little Lulu collection for my mom that had 1 page ripped out of it at about the 200 mark at the end of a longer story (one with ghosts in it at that).
I've had books where the cover was glued on upside down, but I still read it. I've also had books with so many spelling mistakes and gramatical errors I couldn't stand to read them (from a mass market paperback that was already printed once in hardcover by a well known big time publisher).
Good editing is where your focus needs to be…and making sure the story is in order too. Oh, and that it is a good story! Please!
Horror stories, indeed, Robert (reminds me a little of when I tried to skip stuff from favorite stories of my kids--they would always know and raise a stink, they wanted the non-condensed version, period). Thanks for mentioning something about the quality of the story of LOST TRIBE. I'd be interested in others' comments. Appreciate your remarks. Gene
