I read Serenity Falls years ago, totally loved for such a big novel I read through it in double quick time. Only recently realised there waas more by Mr Moore. Now i can't get enough.

Well, I'd have to be a complete ass not to post a review for this book on here!

James A. Moore looks like an outlaw biker from hell-at least the last time I was on his website and that was last night. Like the kind of guy you could sit down and share a cold beer with, but wouldn't want to get pissed off at you. But there's a pure, well-crafted storytelling brain inside his skull and it's waiting to take you on a journey well past the realms of most horror novels.

Under The Overtree was my intro to James Moore and it blew me away; the last two books I read that had this effect on me were Ghost Road Blues by Jonathan Maberry and The Bleeding Season by Greg Gifune-and man, would I love to see James write a book with one of those guys!

James Moore writes like a demonic Ray Bradbury: at least to me. You know how you read Bradbury and he has a way of making you feel like it's Halloween, a cool crisp autumn night when anything can happen? Well, that's the same effect Under The Overtree had on me. You identify with every character, from the bullies to the masterfully developed Mark Howell. By the time you reach the areas of the first hundred pages, you start to feel like you've known the characters all your life.

There's revenge, humor, creepiness, spooky atmosphere, demons you'll never forget and just kick-ass storytelling that will have you glued to every page. Yes, you will forget anything that you planned on remembering once you open this book. The best $6 you'll spend.

There's certain books I love to read come October (I'm an Autumn junky in case you haven't noticed yet), and the first that always comes to my mind is Something Wicked This Way Comes, and now, Under The Overtree is happily added to this list.

I had spent my last book money for the month of May on Braunbeck and Piccirilli: June looks like all my extra book cash will be spent on James A. Moore.

I grant Under The Overtree a rating of five out of five headbanging smiley dudes!
