A little contest for the no0bs

Hi, I'm undead.

I'm kind of an eclectic ghoul.

I am a Canadian married to an American with an almost three year old daughter who ages me and keeps me young at the same time. We live in the US, but I do miss Canada.

Huge music junkie and likely own 5,000 CDs, mostly hard rock and metal.

Of course, I also own about 5,000 books, almost all in the horror and dark fantasy genres. Been an avid reader for close to four decades......

Like most here, I am an aspiring novelist while I work full-time. One book recently word-counted is around 70,000 words, the other 50,000 words. Both are close. All I need is down time to finish

(as if that ever happens)

Please don't enter me in the contest. I don't collect hardcover books. I have a couple of Steve Savile's GamesWorkshop Warhammer books, but I'm sure the other board users would appreciate the book more than me.

Hey all, my name's James and I can talk and ramble like you wouldn't believe. I'm 36. Grew up in SoCal and then moved to Texas(!) for cheap real estate. Miss California a whole lot. I don't really like Texas though the state's been good to me.

I'm a book nut and read all kinds of stuff. I have (almost) my entire library cataloged at LibraryThing, where I'm user jseger9000. http://www.librarything.com/profile/jseger9000 For more details of what I like check out my LT profile or even (shudder) my seriously outta date myspace page.

Unlike many here I am not a frustrated author, but I think I would make a good editor. (Any such a thing as a frustrated editor?) I decided a few months ago that I would write a review for every single book I read whether it be a literary classic or non-fiction or just some D&D crap.

I read whatever strikes my fancy but my favorite subject is horror. My favorite horror writers are Stephen King, Peter Straub and Bentley Little. Whenever I see a mass market horror book by a first time author, I buy it.

I'm also a fan of hard sci-fi (especially the late Arthur C. Clarke and Stephen Baxter) and I love historical fiction.

Music: I like what used to be called alternative music from the '80's and '90's. Favorites are The Cure, The Smiths/Morrissey, Bjork, The Orb and The Charlatans.

When it comes to movies I must say that Alan Draven has excellent taste. My two favorite directors are also Stanley Kubrick and John Carpenter (not sure about his affinity for cheese-meister Koontz though

).

Hello my name is Greg. I have a remarkable amount of similarities to Craig. 1st Craig - Greg. 2nd both live in the midwest I'm in Wisconsin. 3rd I'm 25 I think him and I are probably the youngest members. 4th I just got married January of 07. 5th my son Loki Fredrick Markwardt was born this past January.

As for small press stuff I have about a dozen or so signed novels and novellas mainly from Cemetery Dance. I am eagerly awaiting In Laymon's Terms which is taking forever. I am also going to be collection Creeping Hemlock's: Unto Dust Series. Which is starting with Keene's Jack's Magic Beans and then Tim Lebbons Children of the New Disorder.

Laymon is probably my favorite author but I enjoy reading a lot of horror. If I had to pick a favorite living horror author it would be Tim Waggoner (as soon as he gets back to it).

I get a little angsty on the boards sometimes, mainly because I post when I get home from work and I am not always in the greatest mood. But I get along with everyone very well. And I am like a bad yeast infection sometimes I'm here for weeks at a time and then I'll disappear for a month just to come back later.

Ohh and I've been a Happy Cat/I Can Haz Cheezburger fan for years.

I didn't even see this! I'm new on here. I was everythinghorrordude but shortened to horrordude: people were getting finger cramps from typing in the whole name.
I'm from Ohio, I'm a horror fanatic, the kind of person who actually has framed pictures of authors like Clive Barker, Stephen King, etc., hanging on his wall. People think that's weird, I think I would be lost without these authors books.
I write a lot. I'm just now writing to get my stories out to people to read: I have a long road ahead but have been writing since I was 18 and I'm 35 now, so it's not like I haven't had practice!
I read everything from classic literature to horror: please no romance novels though!!!!!

I don't really collect limited editions, not intentionally anyway. I have a lot of Stephen King first editions and all first editions by Clive Barker. I have some really rare classic literature editions by Hemingway and others.
I found the magic in horror novels not through Stephen King like most, but had my life changed when my mother came home one day and said, "I found this book on sale, don't know if you'll like it though." That book happened to be Imajica by one Clive Barker: you could say I liked it!
I found this amazing place called Horror World, through an email I had sent to the very kind John Paul Allen, so I have him to thank for finding this awesome place to post and get to know fellow horror people. Thanks John!
Right now I'm reading Off Season by Jack Ketchum and The Darkest Part of The Woods by Ramsey Campbell < I fear The Sticky Man will haunt my dreams!
