I was hoping we could have one thread where we put pictures of ourselves. I would be happy to add one...but how the heck do you do it?

Find a picture you like (if you want to post one you found on the internet) and temporarily save it to your computer (wherever you save pictures).

Then go here:

http://www.freeimagehosting.net/

Then click browse and it should open up your files so you can choose the photo you want to include. Double click the photo and it will show up in the space beside "browse"

Then click "upload" or "host it" or whatever the button below says. A screen will come up with several lines that look like they contain links. copy and paste the one for message board posts and then come here and paste that link into your message.

Also, HHF, I can't find the thread where you got your avatar. Could you please tell me again where you got it? Can you use any kind of picture for that?

Our threads are all over the place, I can't remember where I read anythng! Is it me? I know I'm getting old, but now I'm getting nervous.

No, we have a lot of threads going. I think it's just the excitement of this being a new place and it having so many different places to post.

Once I get the picture next to the browse I don't see any upload button.

What do I do next?

Forget it for now. I see what I did wrong. I didn't read the directions.

Hey Tony,

I will send a bunch of links to sites when I get home. I looked through so many when looking for mine, that I can not remember which site it was any more. I remember googling "80x80 avatars" and checking out the sites through that search. 80x80 dimension is the highest dimensions that this site will support (I think).

Once you find the avatar that you like, right click on it. Scroll down to properties on the menu popup and click on that. On the Property Menu you will see a field (about half way) that provides you with the address for that picture. It also gives you the dimensions of the picture. After making sure that it is no bigger than 80x80, copy the URL address by keeping the CTRL down and pressing "C" (copy onto the memory).

Come back to this site and go into your profile. Scroll all the way down to AVATAR CONTROL PANEL. There is an option there to load from an external adress (a URL). Click on the box and hit CTRL and the "V" key to paste the address.

Submit your changes and you should have an avatar by your name. One thing to watch it out for is when you are at your work. It might block it out through the firewall, like here at my work. At home, you should have no problem viewing it.

To add pictures, you can do the same thing. Except when uploading to the site, you do it here on your message, not on your profile.

You follow all the steps up until the opening of profile. Instead of going to profile, you open a new message, or it reply to any message. Press ALT key and P. Paste your URL address after the square bracket. Press ALT key and P again. Submit. Like this...
