By the way, after rereading my reply to Thad's comment I deleted the last phrase. I really was talking about fruit, but I thought it could be taken out of context so I took it out. Maybe I was the only one who would have thought that, but when I saw Janet's reply I thought it best to delete it. Sorry if anyone took offense. In fact I just decided to delete the whole comment.

Thanks, but I can be a bit over sensitive sometimes. And my comment really was about fruit. I was eating an apple before I posted and it was a bit on the soft side, it was a Macintosh and they should be hard and crisp. It got me to thinking about peaches and how my wife always buys peaches that are on the soft side, which I detest! When peaches are soft they get all gummy and drippy and the juice sticks all over your hands and face and it's a pain. Now a hard peach is not only delicious, but you can chew it instead of slurping it and your hands stay dry. Anyway, that's why I wrote what I did about peaches.

Well, I suspect we're all going to buy a bag of apples or peaches tomorrow and eat fruit (subliminal, you know?) It's good for us so it's a win win

No NANOWRIMO for me this year. I've got too much on.

I did it last year and managed about 35K. At the time I thought the result was a load of bollocks. But I've looked at it since and I reckon I can do something with it, so - not a total loss.

Not sure if anyone else saw it, but by all accounts Angry Robot currently has an open submission period (until the end of the year, I think). So if anyone has a novel they can bring up to snuff, it's an opportunity for sure. I'm going to be working on that and Vamp 2.

I need a drink. A few drinks really. I used to enjoy drama in my life, it made me feel like I had a purpose and gave me an opportunity to use my brain. Now it just sucks. I tend to speak my mind when I've been pushed too far or feel that I've been slighted somehow and maybe I've got to learn to curb doing this. I'm learning it's just divisive, and it tends to push people and friends into camps which I don't want to happen. And sometimes I just feel like retreating, just disappearing for awhile.

And I often think that I'm doing well, especially in my writing, but then I look at others who are doing so much better. I do not begrudge them one bit by the way, I'm super happy for them in fact. I just think, why can't I write that well? I look at everything I wrote and it feels like crap to me. Even when someone tells me it's great and even when it's published. Even when I went to Anthocon this weekend and had a great time, I looked around and thought, I'll never be as good as him or her.

Oh well.

I wish I had something I could say to make it all better. I know you have friends here that love and support you. Things will get better.

Thanks for the kind words shadogrrrrl but I'll be fine. I just had a run in with a group of people and it seems to have split the group in two, which I feel badly about. I'm too old to be worrying about this stuff and all the drama that comes with it, and the feelings of insecurity it raises in me. Better off down the road without that load I guess. But tonight I will have a drink, a real drink, and I'm sure it will make me feel much better. : ) (I got some really good scotch for Anthocon but I could only take a few sips of it because I didn't want to mix it with the painkillers. I'm looking forward to really trying it out this evening).

I sometimes feel the same way about my writing Tony. I will read a novel and think "I will never ever be this good" and it is depressing. But no matter how good we are there will always be someone better. And we can always keep practicing and improving ourselves. Plus, think about what a good run you've been on lately. Some people write and write and are never published. You are building up quite a nice bibliography.
