Today a group of us are going to see the long island medium. It should be fun. We already decided if we go see another one of these types of things we will choose a smaller venue.

Well...So far this has been a very eventful month. Mom has been in and out of the hospital. I found a new roommate. My ex FINALLY went back to Tennessee. My G.I. Bill got screwed up. And my current roommate needs a new job but won't look for one.

Was packing up the ex-wife's clothes and my dog decided to jump on the pile and not move. I'd pick her up and set her down on the floor only to have her jump right back on the pile. Shelley has found a pile of dirty laundry and is now asleep on that. My dog really misses my ex.

I am reading the Long Walk by Stephen King. I am a little over a quarter of the way through and horrified. It has been a long time since a book grabbed me by the short hairs and made me feel.

The bills are starting to roll in for the rabies treatment - seems that the insurance company is shifting everything towards the deductible (which is disgustingly high)

. I had the final shot today but they didn't even give me a silver tag to wear

. All told, if I had to do it all over again I would! Bonus -- the doctor said that I can now go and play with rabid animals without fear of rabies. Bring on Necon! :lol

Today even got better. Drunken roommate is moving out Saturday. His family has lined up a job and apartment for him up near D.C. I will be moving from the living room to the bedroom. No more parties. No more people just walking in and out of the apartment. Now I can just worry about myself. New roommate works at a grocery store so I can make a list and give her money to do shopping.

Homie moved out Saturday. I have been cleaning the room since. I know he borrowed the vacuum cleaner from our neighbors, but I want to know what he used it on. It's sure as hell wasn't his floor...

I filled up a recycling bin from the amount of half drank 40s he had in his room. And I swear the carpet need to go in for rehab. It's taken me 2 days of rug shampooing to get the stench of alcohol out. Hopefully, the stains are not as noticeable...

It will be nice to finally move into my own room. No more sleeping on the futon. Will have my own privacy.

I struggled through The Stand (both versions). It took me over a year to finish it.

I must admit, I'm struggling lately with some re-reads. Books I previously adored, and this time around - bleh. I suspect my tastes have changed (I read far too much GRIMDARK fantasy fiction these days), and there's always the 'you know what's coming' factor. I don't know, maybe there's no going back.

Having said that, American Gods, and Cecelia Holland's Floating Worlds were cool exceptions, recently.

I am currently on a Gaiman rant, having bought some hardcover books of his that I previously only had in paperback, including the new one (which is excellent), and I agree about "American Gods." I have read that a few times since it came out, and I get new thoughts and ideas from it each time. Same with "Neverwhere."
