I am surprised to say that Rich's book rocked. I was actually sucked in and finished it within 2 days. Not bad for someone who spent hours and hours in the yard. Collapse was worth the read.

Happy dance time! The school posted the tuition rates for the upcoming year. They will finally accept my payment. I budgeted for $1800 for tuition and $300 for the computer science textbook. Tuition comes in at $1700. Just gotta find out how much my textbook for my computer science class is going to run me and I'll be set.

Thank god for grade forgiveness. I get to take my Research Methods class all over. Never trust a grading rubric. I'll pass. But not by much.

Got my final grade for my research methods class. Went from a C+ to a D+. Several of us have compared our paper grades and we're now wondering about how she used the grading rubric. As far as we know the highest grade was 75 out of 150 points.

The school changed some requirements and I may have to take another course instead.

<mini rant> I've seen a lot of posts today on the bloody facebook about 'boob plate' armor and how it's bad and awkward and - OMG - it could get you killed!!! I also see a lot of folk jumping on the bandwagon because yeah- some of those skimpy ice cream cone designs are a) possibly sexist, and b) impractical and look stupid. I'm certainly not going to argue about a) or b).

However, unless you're as good as flat chested (which is fine if you are), some kind of shaping is necessary. Those babies have to go somewhere, otherwise the chest plate will fit badly.

I wear boob armor for sports and historical fencing - no ice cream cones or x-rated decolletage - it's plastic and I wear it under the rest of my gear. It's a solid piece - which means if some complete and utter rat bastard with a rapier (or a longsword for that matter) lunges forward and hits me square in the chest - the entire surface of the plate will absorb the blow - BAM - and providing it retains it's integrity I'll be fine. That's what's so good about plate, as opposed to chain mail and brigandine. And while I applaud the call out over some of these ridiculous designs, let's not get too crazy and dismiss the whole idea. </mini-rant>
