I'm pretty jaded when it comes to horror flicks. That's why I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this one. The atmosphere (a small, isolated, sleepy English village) is perfect and the pacing is superb. There are some genuine spooky moments. I was skeptical of Daniel Radcliffe's ability to effectively portray a grieving widower, but he does it. I didn't think of Harry Potter after the first couple of minutes. Part of my enjoyment came from the lack of gee-wow special effects and gore. If you're looking for a moody and pretty creepy ghost story, check this one out. |

I liked the atmosphere and acting but for some reason the "scares" didn't grab me. It may be because I found the original British film more creepy. |

We must have just been in the right mood for it. |

Ha! I still love The Sword and the Sorcerer, with Lee Horsley's immortal line, "I can't wait to bed you, wench." |

Hey, the Arnold Conans may not be award-winners, but they were fun. Screw the critics. |
