These won’t truly be forgotten books, but I would occasionally like to highlight a novel, anthology or collection that has faded in the memories of horror readers. This time around it’s Son of the Endless Night by John Farris, first published in 1984. A big, thick novel of demonic possession that’s also part legal thriller. Farris, ever the consummate professional, creates characters and creepy moments with a sure hand. I’m not sure why Farris isn’t a bigger deal in the horror field. Every one of his horror novels is well done. What’s your favorite forgotten horror novel? |

I can remember reading this and being very frightened. I also remember the court room scenes and still am amazed how brilliant Farris wrote those. |
