Hi guys There's a lof of news this month, and it falls into a few different categories, so I'm dividing everything into three sections - like the local, national and sports sections of your Sunday paper. See following posts for news about Linda Addison's new poetry collection, Being full of Light, Insubstantial. Go down to the next one for some chewy Dead Cat goodness (I only say chewy because Nanci loves that SO much). Midnight Premiere, edited by Tom Piccirilli and published by Cemetery Dance, has premiered! It's a wonderful book, featuring world-class fiction from Gary Braunbeck, Jack Ketchum, Brian Hodge, Lisa Morton and Richard Grove, and, as the saying goes, many others. Fortunately for me, I'm one of those others, which in this class feels pretty damn good! Horror Literature Quarterly, issue 2, is online at right now for free at http://horrorfictionnews.com/index.php for download or online reading, with stories from John Urbancik, Lavie Tidhar and myself ("Night Service"). Stay tuned to this channel because they'll be publishing a new Tim Lebbon story in the next month or two (and for you writers out there, this is a pro market, so just because readers don't pay to read your stories doesn't mean you won't get paid!). Sails and Sorcery: Tales of Nautical Fantasy, edited by William Horner and published by Fantasist Enterprises, is very nearly here and will include a contribution from me, an Aum/Jeloc story (dark fantasy/sword and sorcery) called "The Sea In Silence." My August 4th entry at www.storytellersunplugged.com deals with What It Feels Like, and amounts to musings about the details that make a story feel real to the reader and where they can come from. Drop by, leave a thought, and check out all the other contributors. Once again, this blog is quite an amazing place for writers just starting out in the game, and going back through its archives you can discover some amazing advice and lessons from folks making a living from their words.
