Hi everyone. Hope you've all recovered from the holidays and the apocalyptic weather.
Heliotrope, the magazine spun off from www.fantasybookspot.com, has bought “They Play in the Palace of My Dreaming,” which will be in the second issue due momentarily. You should really check out FBS' thorough coverage of the field of the fantastic. For that matter, you should check out the first issue of the magazine, http://www.heliotropemag.com/Issue01/index.html, which includes an article on writing in the novella form from Jeff VenderMeer (which, you know, we writer-types need to read).
I was invited to the anthology High Seas Cthulu from Elder Signs Press and made the cut with “The Stars, In Their Dreaming,” a piece in which Cthulu followers attempt to ingratiate themselves with the elder powers through the African slave trade, with dire consequences.
I must remember to ban the word dreaming from my titles (in my defense, the stories were written quite some time apart). Too bad. I like the word.
Tim, sometimes referred to as The Tim, whose first published story received an Honorable Mention in the Year's Best Fantasy and Horror from St. Martins Press (but the writers group we belong to can't ritually beat him up for that triumph because, well, he's a jiu jitsu master and the only one who could give him competition is his German rock star/web mistress/ writer wife, and she's on his side) has animated my MySpace avatar, Nutcracker De Satanic, quite nicely: www.myspace.com/gerardhouarner and for anyone interested in hiring him you can find him at http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... id=1523502
In my www.Storytellersunplugged.com essay for March 4th, I ramble on about some comments I picked up from the boards last month on cliches and what irritates readers and critics, and why. As usual, comments are invited.
My story, "The Sea in Silence" is scheduled to appear in "http://fantasistent.com/books/anthologies/SAILS.php" target=

published by Fantasist Enterprises, independent publisher of
