Well, just to keep current, here's the news: My writing has dried up and is about to blow away. I'm suffering from severe sleep apnea and though I'm using an APAP machine, I'm still not sleeping. It goes like this: We sleep in cycles of three: a light sleep, a deeper sleep and REM sleep. These cycles continue through the night at 90-minute intervals. The APAP machine has a built-in "ramp" that incresases pressure over the course of the night. The problem is that when the machine is at its highest pressure (which is still not enough to overcome my apnea) and I hit that light sleep, I wake up. Every two hours. So I had the machine adjusted down. Now I wake up every hour. It will be readjusted shortly. Exhaustion does an amazing amount of bad things to one's self, including (but limited to) a lack of energy, creativity, civility, patience, enthusiasm, passion, desire, etc. All this means I've stopped writing and doing much fo anything. I'll drop by again to keep you all posted on things. If I start writing (seriously and not a couple of words here and there), I'll let you know! Peace, Gary . . . |
