Hello Everyone! I like to think of myself as an upcoming horror writer. I've been interested in none other than the horror genre my entire life. When I was younger I collected films, mostly the video nasties, and all those BANNED IN THE 80's films. When I grew older my love for horror still thrived deep within myself, but took a bit of what I like to think of as, a sophisticated turn. I stopped with the films and picked up the books. Reading works by Edward Lee, Richard Laymon and many others. The more I read the more I began to feel this overwhelming feeling in myself that I too wanted to write. I couldn't write though, I'd suck at it. I've never payed any attention in my high school or college writing courses. I don't know grammar. Hell, I barely know spelling. This is what I told myself over and over again. I decided to give it a try anyway. I felt like I had some great ideas, and the only way the world would see them is if I actually took the time and wrote them down. So I wrote. I wrote for a very long time. Until I was finished I never stopped. The finished document was absolutely riddled with grammatical issues, awful dialogue errors, and my stunning inability to writing in the same tense for more than a page. But you know what else I noticed? It was good. My friends and family thought it was too. Even with all the mistakes my story was good. This was quite some time ago. Since then, I've purchased numerous books on editing, grammar, and vocabulary. I feel like they've made me a better writer. I've done close to 10 short stories, 15 flash fiction stories and 1 novel in between all of this. My problem is, I don't know where to start. Ive got the material and so many ideas. I just don't know where to go from here. So thats why I am here. If anyone that reads this would like to read one of my first flash fiction stories I would love to send it to you! The story is called HOT METAL COOL WATER and is about the hardships of an abusive relationship. It's a quick read 1,400 words. All I want in return is honest feedback.
