NEW PUBLISHER FOR DUNWICH ROMANCE
Hi, all. Here's new info on DR. The original publisher that I wrote the piece for, Bad Moon Books, has turned it down because it was too hardcore for their venue. No hard feeling there (it IS hardcore!) but they weren't comfortable with the content. (Same thing happened with another publisher when I wrote Pages Torn). Anyway, Bloodletting Press is now the hardcover publisher for Dunwich Romance. They've done a great job with my stuff in the past, and I'm sure the same will be true here. I think it's a really cool piece (and it's not necessary for anyone who reads it to have previously read HPL's Dunwich Horror, to which DR is a sequel). It's 55000 words, nearly a full-length novel, and I think it's got a lot of surprises (and a lot of hob-knobbin'!); plus I think it's pretty unique for what it is. I'll let you know projected pub date, etc. when I find out.
On other fronts, I regrettably didn't get much done on HEADS this trip back to FL due to family complications; I head back to MD tomorrow (May 24) and return May 31. I'm hoping I'll be able to make some progress while I'm there. The little bit I've got so far is pretty slick. It should be a howler.
Got to run now and pack my bags. I'll talk to you all after the 31st. Later!
Nothing wrong with this news. Congrats! I do find this a little bizarre. Roy Robbins is the guy who introduced me to reading Edward Lee. I was looking for a couple rare Ketchum pbs many years ago and Roy wrote me that if I like Jack I will love Ed. Turned out to be true!
This seems odd to me, Lee. I am glad you are taking this in stride, and NO OFFENSE whatsoever to Larry at Bloodletting (he is a very nice and trustworthy guy), but I am scratching my head as to why Roy would turn this novel down. Everyone knows what you write for the small press, and you had a contract. Oh well. Hope to make it over your way soon. Have a great trip to MD! Bob
This is kinda weird. I bought the original Bighead in Hardcover from Roy. I wonder if recent happenings in his personal life had something to do with this. I like Roy as a person and hope everything is okay, especially after all he's been through in the last year. Larry has always been awesome too, so no worries on the actual product. Best of luck to everyone involved.

I have mentioned on here several times that my absolute favorites are Lee books, with Larry running the production. I love this team and can't wait to be able to read it. Although odd news, I find this news to be fantastic for me as a fan.

I don't care who publishes it, as long as there's going to be a trade version for me sometime in the future. The fact that Bad Moon had issues with it's content (nothing against Bad Moon) makes it that much more covetous (was that a word? Need more coffee....).

I don't care who publishes the delicious, extremely expensive, gorgeous, limited edition hardcover, so long as I can buy it as soon as fucking possible.

With Larry doing me a stack of the lovely hardcover limiteds when it's out it's all good news to me. I know BLP know how to treat and Ed Lee book to make it something special for collector. Be nice if they also did the trade, I like me a BLP trade rather than the Deadite stuff, nothing against them but that whole only through Amazon thing is a jip seeing as I end up paying my wholesaler over the odds just to be able to stock their stuff. At least with a BLP trade I know I can do my part and make sure it's available in the UK for folks who'd rather use the bay than Amazon.
I'm sure Roy didn't expect Little Bo Peep but I can imagine his reaction when he read, well, the very first scene! When I told him in advance it would be hardcore, I don't think he expected it to be THAT hardcore. True, it doesn't matter who publishes it as long as it's a quality production. As for you overseas folks, I'm sorry about the travails of extra shipping costs. It's a kick in the ass, but I appreciate your support very much! At least the cover prices of the Deadite pb's seem to be very reasonable. Ultimately, I think I can say with overmuch confidence that Dunwich Romance is pretty damn cool!
On an appending note, the ink is now dry on my Dunwich contract with Bloodletting. I kinda giggle when I recollect any number of scenes.
I hope you're all doing well and had a great weekend. I'm back to MD tomorrow, to return on June 14th. With any luck I'll have made more progress on HEADS this time.
Thanks, Jordan, and everyone else, for your continued interest in this work, which I hope will be regarded as unique and one of the hardest core things I've yet composed. Best to all of you!
Edward Lee
PS: for you amusement, here's a few lines from Wilbur Whateley's diary in Dunwich Romance:
I never mutch cared fore the Nallers. Was them, Ike and his fat, flat-titted wife Prudence, who filed complaints bout Grandsire with the sheriff in Aylesbury how the cows we bought wasnt seen no more shortly after we buy em. Sheriff didnt do nothing cuz when he come by, Grandfather had already lighted a Obfuscation Candle. Then he put a Tormentus Hex on Nallers wife so to make it so her pussy hurt like it got a thorn branch being yanked back and forth in it for six minutes evry hour from dusk to dawn for a whole moon cycle.
