Reading FRAGILE THINGS by Neal Gaiman. 3/4ths of this is horror! I had forgotten how dark much of this is. Neal is a great writer, no doubt.
Finished Tim Curran's latest novella from Delirium. Started OK, faded for a while.... thought about tossing it about 5 times. Stuck with it and glad I did. Got pretty tight. Worth reading, even though it is published by Delirium, who pays the authors around $500 a novella. Generally, you get what you pay for!

Recently read "Cows" by Matthew Stokoe, as recommended in this thread. Outstanding stuff.

Was in the middle of "Sunset and Sawdust" by Joe R Lansdale and it was fantastic. Then my book disappeared. The main suspect is my 2 year old. He's probably hidden it somewhere. Anyway, I have moved on to "Meat" by Joseph D'Lacey. This book is amazing and I recommend it to everybody. I am half way through and it is one of the best novels I have ever read. Brilliantly written and very gruesome indeed but also manages to disturb on a much deeper level. Those that liked "Cows" should love this.

Ordered a copy of MEAT last night. Sounds disturbing enough for me!
Reading Volume 5 of Roger Zelazny's collected short stories published by NESFA. This poor guy was pretty much out of steam by this time. Not great writing. Zelazny started his career with a huge splash, writing two extremely well received stories that won every award and are continuously reprinted. LORD OF LIGHT is a very cool novel.
To my mind, much like Rex Miller, he did not grow as a writer, and both perhaps drifted into hackdom...
Of course, everyone but me loves Zelazny's AMBER series.

Presently reading The Backwoods. Love the Blood Feast reference.

Just finished reading...

Family Tradition: This one was so killer. Wont ruin it for those of you who have yet to read it, but man, it was sooo funny.

Poisoning Eros: This was a pretty cool book. Wrath allways has a specific message in his books, at least the ones I've read. Him and Monica O'Rourke wrote something here truly dark. Totally wasnt what I was expecting after Part 1, but it more than kept my attention. But the one thing I'm confused about is when the first book ends and where the second book begins...anyone know??

Anyone read The Necrophiliac, by Gabrielle Wittkop?? Really cool book, and extremely poetic in its prose. As I remember it was only about 70-80 pages, but well worth the read. Only last year did it get its first translation into english print...Totally cool, and grim.

THIS SYMBOLIC FASCINATION was Charlee Jacob's first novel. I don't think Charlee ever found an editor who could help her make her writings better. I love her dearly, but she needed help that she never got.
Thinking about re-reading GLOBALHEAD by Bruce Sterling. Or Norman's Spinrad's THE IRON DREAM.That one is a kick. Spinrad writes it as if Hitler gave up on politics, emigrated to America, and wrote hack science fiction while working as a cab driver. And of course, succumbed to syphilis while finishing the novel. Perfect....

Moved onto Revelations by C. Dennis Moore as advertised in the back of Witch Water.

It's readable but I'm finding it rather poorly executed. Shame as I was digging the premise. There's a good story in there somewhere but the author just seems to have made it up as he went along, throwing as much shit at the wall as possible and seeing what sticks.

I remember reading Cows several years ago and really dug it. Last night I read "It" by Theodore Sturgeon. Very good stuff!

I just finished TUMOR FRUIT by Carlton Mellick III. I was ready to give up on the guy after the string of barely readable stuff he's churned out recently but TUMOR FRUIT is among his best books. It's definitely the best thing he's written since ZOMBIES AND SHIT. And yeah, it gets pretty hardcore in the last third, with rape and cannibalism and... uh... combinations thereof.

Found a pdf of Clive Barker's "The Hellbound Heart" online, and it's definitely helping the workday move along. One of those stories I'd been ashamed of not having read yet. Actually, I haven't read any Barker before this. *hangs head*

I just finished John Everson's Nightwhere. I loved it, it was a great combination of brutal sex and violence. As a few reviewers on Goodreads mentioned it's like Hellraiser meets Fifty shades of Grey. It had a really great ending.

Now i'm gonna start Lee's You Are My Everything, and Gord Rollo's Valley Of The Scarecrow.

I finished You Are My Everything, and it was great. Just wish there was more "header" goodness. Now i'm gonna continue with Valley Of The Scarecrow, and start reading from The Cage by Brian Keene, and Fading Light: An Anthology of the Monstrous. Wish I could have bought Fading Light at KillerCon since it was signed by Gene O'Neil and Gord Rollo but alas my money went elsewhere.

P.S. Ed, after finishing You Are My Everything I am excitedly waiting on Header 3, and the Header reprint. I must have more header material to read. Great stuff.

Chugging along through Barker's Books of Blood. I'm on volume 2 at the moment. "In the Hills, the Cities" is one hell of a peculiar tale.
