Charlee Jacob. I know she has some unsold manuscripts out there. Dave Barnett said he had read some and just didn't think he could publish them through Necro. Dark Regions Press announced early last year Charlee was one of three authors to write a novel for an "end of the world" scenario. The trilogy never happened and Jeffrey Thomas' was the only one to appear. I think Saville was the third writer.
Charlee's last few books just did not find an audience. Both the Delirium publications and Necro's are common and sell for well under cover price.
She made a decision to generally write from a female point of view with female type concerns. This point of view just hasn't found a foothold among readers. There are more women than ever reading horror so I assume Charlee will get more popular as time goes on.
VESTAL was devastating in it's cruelty to the main character. All hopes and dreams crushed. Wow. Charlee writes for the ages. I love her. She is smart and doesn't write down to find an audience.

Charlee Jacob's DREAD IN THE BEAST in its short story collection incarnation, which, after years of scoffing at copies starting at $175 and ending at $269 I was recently able to buy for just $38 thanks to a much appreciated pointer from JPOKELA.

Out of curiosity, are the stories in UP OUT OF CITIES equally hardcore as the ones in DREAD or are they more of the Anne Rice-y vampire variety รก la THE INDIGO PEOPLE?

With Thanksgiving arriving soon, I figured I'd start FAMILY TRADITION to grab some recipes from Edward Lee & John Pelan.

A little over halfway done with CREEKERS, man this book is a joy to read. Warped, disgusting, compelling, excellent work.

Finished CREEKERS, damn, what a great book! Talk about a kick in the balls ending! Continuing my Lee Bender, I'm digging into TROLLEY NO. 1852 now, fascinating thus far.

ZOMBIES AND SHIT by Carlton Mellick III. 50 pages in and digging it. I also loved the hell out of APESHIT earlier this year so I think it's time I ordered an armfull of his back catalogue.

After a longer reading pause I finally read Header 2 which was quite cool but not his best if I may say so. Now I am right in the middle of Dahmer's Not Dead. It's nice to read some different kind of Lee. I am now even more curious how Portrait of the Psychopath will turn out.

I've read Room 415 and You are my everything over the last week. The latter may easily be in my personal top 3 of Lee's novellas. I think my next one will most likely be Goon. And there are still so much more waiting on my shelf. :)

Just read The characters yesterday..really funny read. Still reading Lucifer's Lottery and waiting for Pages Torn from a Travel Journal to get here and i'm headed over to amazon to buy Haunter. I started up college again and in my speech class we had to do an expressive reading, and I would have loved to have read something of your's Ed but I don't think it would have went over well...lol. Think I might bring Brain Cheese Buffet to work tomorrow.

Read Ray Garton's Serpent Girl and The Summer I Died by Ryan Thomas recently. Now I'm in the middle of Ghouls. It's nice so far but seems to be a little too long.

Post subject:  Re: What are you reading?

Decided to branch out and discover other authors (starting with ones Edward Lee gave a blurb on while I wait for more of his books) Just finished Brian Keene's Dark Hollow, John Everson's Covenant, Edward Lee's Black Train (would love a sequel to that AND Monstrosity... actually any Edward Lee sequel would be amazing...ok anything from Edward Lee, sorry huge fan) Currently working on Dark Hollow's Sequel Ghost Walk; half way through it and will be interested to see just how much correlation between the two books there are. Really excited to get John Everson's Sacrifice (on order) so I can continue that story.

...and July cannot come quick enough so I can get Lucifer's Lottery. (Just saw that amazon lowered the price from 14.99 to 8something)

Post subject:  Re: What are you reading?

A part from ripping through lots of Edward Lee which are quite hard to get hold of over here in the little old UK i like to slip in a few Bizzaro stories by Carlton Mellick

most recent reads have been

Zombies and Shit - CMIII

Family Traditions *
The Cysolagniac
The Bighead

Lee you are a fantastic author, why are your books so hard to get hold of in the UK!!!!
I NEED MORE LEE!
