Hi fella, I know for a fact that Baker & Taylor the wholesalers have it in stock, I know this because they are packing my copies for shipment to me. I'm guessing amazon should have it. In my experience, leisure books are always listed to come out around the 20th but are in circulation a week or so before.
I hope you all dig Brides of the Impaler; thanks much for picking it up. Ultimately, I'm pretty happy with it. It was really cool how LEisure expedited copies for me to sell at Horrorfind. Right now I'm back to work on the home stretch of Haunter of the Threshold, which seems to get more disgusting each day...
Chris, man, thanks millions for the review; I appreciate it a ton. One of these days I'll get back over to your side of the state for a visit; I'll let ya know.
Jim: wow, you know a WHOLE LOT MORE about that ancient language than I do. Keep in mind, though, part of the craft of writing fiction is the orchestration of--how do I say this?--ah...bullshit. Same as the Ur-Locs in SUCCUBI, for instance. I often mix up fabrication with tangent s of fact and try to make it sound genuine. I also do this a lot with medical stuff. I'm pretty sure, for example, that I invented the term "transvaginal evisceration" but, hell, is sounds authentic, doesn't it? But thanks for your attention to detail. Also glad you got a kick out of the grafitti in MINOTAURESS. Not many people got that! I suspect my "The Writer" character will reappear down the road, and Crafter's House probably will too. Also, regarding the Vinchetti crime family, I will say this: they work in very predominantly to my sequel to HEADER which I hope to write this summer but...it's not what you think!
Orchestration of bullshit. Aaah, the phrase just drips off the tongue. I have also enjoyed the "medical" aspect of some of your writings. "Portrait Of A Wackopath As A Young Surgeon" had plenty of medical terms and procedures. Enough to warm the soul. "The McCrath Model SS40-C Series S" from Kelly Laymon's "Excitable Boys" should be required reading for any doctoral program. And "Header". Many a young person has gained a whole new appreciation of surgical techniques due to this gem!

Finished it tonight, less than two hours after I picked it up at Barnes & Noble! I admit to being surprised at the lack of first-person P.O.V. on any of the impalings, actually, I've come to expect that sort of in-your-face kind of thing from your writing. You're one of the last of the "splatterpunk" writers left, and I'd truly miss it if you did like so many other authors and decided to "grow up", as one of them put it. Your comment about "transvaginal eviscerations" reminded me that the very first of your novels I picked up happened to be Ghouls (quickly followed by The Coven, and your short story "Mr. Torso" from the Hot Blood anthology series, the first few of many of your stuff.) All in all, I found Brides to be a great book, and a decidedly different twist on the vampire/Dracula concept!

Since Brides of the Impaler has been brought up again...is there going to be a hardcover version of it? I recall there being word about it coming out or something but I haven't heard anything in quite awhile. Are there still plans for it being released in hardback?

Yes, there will be a h/c of Brides, by Cemetery Dance, but regrettably the release is way late. All I can say is I THINK it'll be out soon 'cos I'd heard it had been sent to the printer. I'll let you know when it's officially out.
Tahnks!
Edward Lee
PS--I suspect they'll release my first Lovecraftian project, The Innswich Horror at the same time. I believe it's only available to people who join the Cemetery Dance book club but for those who don't, there'll be a trade paperback in about a year after release.
That's great news Ed. I'll be looking foward to picking it up when it comes out! And I do have a quick question. With The Innswich Horror and Haunter of the Threshold, the 2 hard to get books....you've mentioned the trade paperback coming out way later. Will there also be a hardcover of them? Just curious.

It's unlikely that there'll be any trade h/c reprints of Innswich and Haunter but very definitely trade paperbacks that will be reasonably priced. And rest assured that both reprints will be UNCUT. I think both of these projects are a hoot. Thanks and take care!
Reading this one right now and enjoying it. I love that one of the homeless gals ('Stutty' I think) wears a 'The Damned' T shirt that she pulled off of a dead crack head! The Damned is one of my favorite bands and I know the exact T shirt that is described in the book! Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible, Rat Scabies, come on! Classic stuff. Plan 9 Channel 7.
This is another of my favs from Ed Lee. The scene where a living person gets impaled and has fellatio performed on him, I mean, what more can you say to that? After I read that, I knew Ed was truly a mad genius. Very hardcore for a mass market novel. What was funny was after I got this book, it was shortly after that I had bought a movie called Mother of Tears, and the cover of the dvd looked similar to the character on the cover of Brides.
I too really dug this book. Is there any news on the Cemetery Dance HC?

fizz, baba, lthr: thanks very much for the kind words; I'm glad u dug this book, certainly not what one would expect from me. I wrote it because I'm not a big fan of vampire novels so I wanted to challenge myself by writing one, but I wanted to do it Edward Lee style. I actually got the idea for the homeless chicks by glimpsing a woman in St. Pete (not homeless but she had the right "look") and things oddly fell into place in my mind from there. It was one of the oddest inceptions of a book I've ever had.
By now, I suspect not. The book was so delayed I remember someone at CD saying it might be cancelled. Might. But after all this time, I'm pretty sure they'll never do it. If that turns out to be wrong, I'll let you know. I doubt that another hc publisher would be feasible. But thanks for your interest and take care!
I actually asked Brian Freeman over at CD (not sure why I didn't just do that in the first place!), and heres his response!
"Our edition of Brides of the Impaler is still officially unannounced, and we will announce it when it's closer to being published, but that shouldn't be too much longer. I would expect it in the next six months, but we haven't announced it yet because we're not ready to take orders for it."
Wow, that's great news. I'm glad to see that it'll be coming out after all.
