In my previous topic, I wrote about how disturbing I found 'Flesh Gothic' to be (don't worry, I meant that as a compliment), but as I perused this board, I learned that, as someone said, "Ed's mass-market stuff is, well, mass-market", and that The Bighead is completely and utterly insane. Just how insane are we talking here? Could anybody give me an example or two without giving away something dire to the plot?

The Bighead is pretty extreme. More so than any of the mass market Lee books. Examples huh? Well lets see....nuns are pissed on. Quite a few people are killed, raped, and their brains ate. (i think you can put those 3 things in any order you want) Colostimy (sp?) bags are violated. And the list goes on. The Bighead is a must have for any fan. Seriously, make plans on buying it, you won't be dissapointed. PROMISE.

One other thing... If you want extreme, pick up a copy of Ever Nat. I think it is the only book that I have read that actually made me want to shower afterwards.

You will enjoy The Bighead, it is a "must read" for any Lee fan. Once you read one of his small press books, you will be addicted and will try to hunt down as many more as you possibly can.

When I read Ed’s post that he considered The Pig to be one of his grosser offerings, I felt relived, yet a little disappointed all the same. You see, I’ve been reading Lee’s books for over a decade now, but had never got around to The Pig. Last week I ordered Necro’s limited edition of The Pig & The House after reading this thread. Wow! Ya know, I consider myself a wee bit jaded, but I actually got woozy a few times! Kudos Mr. Lee (you sick bastard)! What can you say about a book that begins with a junkie whore doing pig cum shooters! It’s like a bedtime story in hell. So, while I’m relived that I survived Lee’s worst with my manhood in tact (who wants to admit being dropped by a bunch of words), I can’t help but wish for worse, just to see if I was up to it. All the best everyone. PS – Necro Publishing’s HC edition I mentioned is beautiful; the quality is worth far more than you pay… grab it if you can.

To digress a moment, Mr. Lee when I first heard you were going to take a dip into the rich and deep waters of the Cthulhu Mythos, (sure, it may look inviting, but dark, terrible things lurk within – and they bite)I went in search for someone to share the good news with, (unfortunately it was 3 am, and I had to settle for one of my Pomeranians – sure, it freaked him out a little, but he thinks I’m crazy anyway – fuck him). For anyone mystified why a 37 year old man was skipping about in the middle of the night, smacking small animals on the ass over what might seem a trivial matter, let me explain. H. P. Lovecraft was an incredible writer. The world he created to serve as a backdrop for his literary offerings was vivid and magical. However, Lovecraft’s oft poetic styling’s has left some readers to judge this world as quaint and tired. Let’s face it, its hard to dredge-up fear for the irrationalities that might just come for you someday, (if you forget to say your prayers and wash your hands) when the language seems Victorian, the world they inhabit made for grandfathers, and the dirt is always kept hidden under the rug (readers of Poe also know what I’m talking about). Now, add one Mr. Edward Lee to this mix, to go about shining his flashlight into the shadows, showing the reader exactly what was making that noise all along, in true 1080p High Definition, shove-your-nose-in-the-shit, surround sound, and you can see why expecting the Mythos' usually sedate waltz to turn into an all-out fucking slam dance! Nope, I don’t see Ed going timidly to waters, in fact, someone better yell cannonball!
