NEWS FROM ED LEE
Friends: as always I must apologize for my infrequent appearances on the board; certainly, such devout fans as yourselves deserve better. The fact is, family matters, some personal matters (and the grim fact of getting older!) plus my movie have left me wallowing in too much to do and not enough time to do it. Header 3, which I'd been working on since my mother died in 2012, has suffered the most. It's three quarters complete but I know that the prospect of finishing it amid all these other hurdles is dim. Therefore, I've recruited long-time friend and expert hardcore horror writer Ryan Harding (author of Genital Grinder) to complete it as a collaboration. I'm certain that he'll rise to the task and complete this project with excellence and many unforeseen surprises.
As for my "movie" it's finished as far as principle photography goes as well as editing. It's called THE WALKING WOMAN and is, I think, pretty darn cool (and it's got 72 naked women in it, all photographed by yours truly!) I'm now in the process of submitting it to Amazon, so please all knock on wood that they accept it! Dave Brnett will be helping me with the cover and related mechanicals. If Amazon rejects it then I'll have to seek a distributor or have a company print the disks for me and then ship them to various sellers myself (something I DON'T relish!) I've completed a trailer also but I'm not sure if it would be best to put it on Vimeo now or wait til the actual movie is available. Whatever the case, you will be the first to know the minute the trailer is accessible.
Right now, I'm finishing a short story (a comedy gross out horror piece about...sea sludge) to fill out a story collection for Deadite; after that I'll be finishing an MR James pastiche novella for Tom Monteleone's Little Book Press. It's halfway done at this moment and it's a blast! (Though I sorely doubt that MR James would approve of what I do with his incredible influence on me! Perhaps he'll come back from the dead and give me a header--which I would deserve!)
That's all for now. Thank you again for your unending support and patience! Certainly, an author could not ask for better fans.
So glad to hear that a new Deadite collection is on the way! Any hints as to what the TOC may contain?
Also, glad to see you're getting a Little book! Last year Tom Monteleone had asked on another forum what authors we'd like to see for the new Little Book line-up, and I and a few others gladly said ED LEE! Truthfully I didn't think Monteleone would go for it (as most of the Little Book authors are more...demure), but I'm very glad to see this happen.
EDIT: also, Mr. Lee, I've got Final Cut 8 (Pro Studio, the full suite to mix, edit, master, etc) on a the newest Mac desktop--if you need any help with post on anything, I'd gladly do it for free! I'm in college right now aiming for English and Film degrees, so....
I can also do a score for you if you'd like! I've been teaching myself chords and piano, and with GarageBand (a music production app for Mac), you can do a helluva lot. I can send you sample of scores I've made for my own short films!

I keep re-reading Ed's update and I don't think I can yet process how much great news he managed to pack into 3 paragraphs! Adding Ryan Harding to the HEADER 3 mix actually gets me even more excited about the book, something I wouldn't have thought possible until now. Then a new short story collection including a newly written story! And a M.R. James pastiche novella! That's not even mentioning the movie coming ever closer to my eyeballs... By the way, from what I heard amazon doesn't really care about the content of the films they sell, just as long as there aren't any offense words like "rape" in the film's title. So, finger's crossed!

I have mixed feelings about this.
On on hand I am super excited that Header 3 is going to see the light of day sooner rather than later, I am gutted it will be a collaboration.
I love Lee's work but Header/rednecks are up there with my favs. Over the years he has done some brilliant collaborations and I really like Ryan Harding (genital grinder is a brutal collection).
On any other project I would have been over the moon I was just hoping Header 3 would be a Lee solo outing.
As long as we get a really great story, a signed hardback I am sure it will be a good thing.
Does this collaboration bring an end to the Header series?
Good luck in this project Lee and I'll be sure to pick it up ASAP.
Thank you to all who are excited about my participation in HEADER 3! I'm doing my best to make my contribution as repulsive as possible, per the spirit of the series. For those a little concerned that this signifies big changes to the proceedings, not to worry -- this is still very much Lee's creation from start to finish!

Glad for the update, and to hear that there are so many projects underway. H3 couldn't be in better hands, and I'm looking forward to the new short story and film.

Lee,
Been much longer since I've posted here, but stoked to read H3 when it comes out (I'm sure Ryan Harding will rock it), along with the aforementioned Deadite collection and the MR James piece. The movie sounds awesome, too, and look forward to that!
Yay for the new Deadite collection. Hopefully it contains some/all of the more harder to obtain pieces. A new story makes a definite must buy nonetheless. I look forward to hearing more about this.
Good luck with everything Ed! I'm sure that Header 3 will turn out great and The Walking Woman should be really cool based on your city infernal pics of other stuff you have shot. Will any of that pop up somewhere? Like Cornface or M? Good luck with everything and if you want some free heavy metal songs from my band, let me know.
I cant wait for anything Edward Lee says he is going to do. A book, a movie? Whatever. He is one of my greatest influences and I will be there to support any and all things he has out, or coming out. If anyone asks whats good, I always refer them to something Lee.
Folks: as I've said many times in the past, please accept my apologies for these long absences from the board; I can assure you, at least, that Im working my old butt off as much as it can be worked! Ryan has finished finishing Header 3 and I must say it's an outstanding job. There's no style clash, no incongruence in characters, no seams, and improvements to my original. I can't imagine anyone being less than thrilled. The book is a ton of fun. It's been submitted to Camelot for hardcover; and after that Necro will handle the pb and Kindle. I would love to see this book fast tracked, and you all will be the first to know the release dates.
MORE NEWS: my movie is finished and submitted to Amazon and, knock on wood. I don't want to jinx it by running my mouth! Please hurl a few chants of praise to the Elder Gods that Amazon takes it!
Speaking of fast track I'm going to take a short break from my James novella and set the deadite collection in order posthaste. It will contain reprints of Stick Woman, and Shit House, a revised updated version of The Ushers, and a new 10k word comedic gross out sex story which I think you'll likely get a kick out of. And speaking of that, I'm about to get back to work on it now.
Thank you all a million times over for your continued support, and please have a great and safe Easter!
Lee! Outstanding news on all fronts. I am so excited/stoked/impatient to read the new book and see the film! You are an amazing guy and I wish you the best. Always your fan. Bob

Anyone know when a pre order of the necro will be available...and maybe the possibility there may be a 1, 2, and 3 combo pack like the infernal series?

That's a good idea but not sure if it could happen, I think Deadite press have the reprint rights to Header at the mo. You never know though. Stranger things have happened.

Hey Ed,
It's been a long time since I've been on the board but school and my summer internship have kept me busy. It's been my Facebook memories that have brought me back here. It's been 3 years this week since I first met you in Vegas! Since then I've taken almost 2 years off from the horror genre but I'm getting back into it again. I was kinda bummed like a few others that Header 3 was going to be a collaboration but I'm still very excited about it! Can't wait for this!

Tony, I can easily say that Ryan's contribution to Header 3 makes it a better book. GGood to hear from you again!
Not much new in my news, still plugging away on novella and next movie. Don't recall if I mentioned this (damn, I'm getting old!) but a few weeks ago I went to a place in New Paltz NY called Mohonk Mountain Inn. 150 years old, quarter mile long, and absolutely outstanding. And at night, it makes the hotels in both Shining flicks look like one of those playrooms they have for toddlers at McDonald's. Creepiest place I've ever been! (Expensive as hell too, but worth it.)
Recently saw Night of the Naked Dead: best title I've ever heard, dullest movie I've ever seen. Another flick called Naked Horror: bizarro horror abstraction that I liked a lot even though it didn't make sense! And the nudity was top notch!
Oh, and for any interested I've put some new pix up from current movie, at cityinfernalfilms.com. Check em out if you'd like.
Hope all of you are well! Thanks for your continued support!
