Dave Brockie died yesterday. Gwar put on one of the best shows ever. He was a true talent and artist for a lot of us horror/metalheads. I'm gonna re-read Warghoul and blast some Gwar in is memory. |

It's awful. I'm just going to repost what I wrote on Facebook: "Been feeling wrecked since hearing the news late last night that Dave Brockie passed away. His creativity will forever serve as an inspiration to all independent artists. I had the honor of working with Brockie on his first novel, WHARGOUL, and it was one of the first releases I did with Deadite Press. One time, when GWAR came to Portland, they gave everyone at Eraserhead Press VIP passes to the show. After he asked me how I liked their set. I told him, "well, so far you're the only one of my authors to ejaculate blood on my face." The suddenness is very shocking. Just last week we were talking about doing another book together. So, goodnight to one of the all-time greats. Go have a beer, smoke your drug of choice, and decapitate a politician or pop star in his honor tonight." |

That's terrible news. How old was he? A fan of mine in prison recently asked me to send him Whargoul. May he rest in peace. Best Edward Lee |

He was only 50. It really sucks. GWAR is easily one of the best live acts I've ever seen. Brockie always seemed like a really cool guy in interviews. RIP |
