Hope all is good with all over you! I'm still pecking away at Header 3 which is going great, however slow; plus had some more movie shoots that have gone exceptionally well: a talking severed head and its drop dead gorgeous headless body; a pair of breasts from another dimension, plus I'm getting ready to reshoot a 3-girl vomit-fight (the first one was poorly aligned)--oh, and lets not forget about the zombie ejaculation. My life has become a veritable exercise in world-changing endeavor! Also saw a slew of DVDs recently: Wither (swedish homage to evil dead, but not too great); 29:59 (R-Pointish militry ghost story, not bad); Evil Remains (forgot I'd already seen it so I bought it again, not much story but a cool "look" for a low budget flick); Apparition (another movie I bought twice cuz I forgot I saw it! Pretty cool); a "Mothman" movie with Richard Gere, well done but dullsville); Reality Terror Night (I should've known better!); Jugface (very interesting backwoods occult drama featuring a hole in the ground full of blood; I still don't know what it was all about but it was worth watching); Paranormal Effect: japanese found footage, pretty good); Darkest Night (Phillipines occult horror, slowish but hugely original angle. For some reason, Asian satanism is so much creepier than US/European fare); and a really cool zero-budget flick I mentioned on another thread called Bake Street Haunting; some of the most effective ghost imagery I've seen. Like Sinister, it made me afraid to go to bed!) And now it's back to work (if you call this work!) Everybody take care!
A hardcover copy of PARTNERS IN CHYME, together with a softcover copy, sold for $322 on eBay today. Softcover copies of the HEADER chapbook, of which there are supposedly 500, continues to sell for over $100 on the bay. Hey Ed! Guess what your hardcore fans like?
Will have to give Bake Street a shot...if I can find it. Not even listed on Netflix. Can't wait for Header 3...and can't believe the prices PIC goes for! It was flattering enough that people paid $50 for the HC when it came out.
Friends, sorry Ive been away from the board for so long; all I can say is I haven't been sitting on my ass since my last appearance. Header 3 progresses well now, I think; I'm at about 25000 words. Not sure how long the finished project will be but I suspect around 50 or 60. And my "movie" ensues: check the home page of my cityinfernalfilms.com website for a few new pix. Last night I watched a dvd called Haunter which, thuogh very mainstream, was very good. I can't really say anything about it without ruining the plot--only that it's about a haunted house, my favorite formula! Also rewatched a slew of Kurbrick movies: Shining, Eyes Wide Shut, and Barry lyndon. That guy's movies stagger me; they get better EVERY SINGLE TIME I rewatch them. Also rewatched Polanksi's Repulsion and I now think of it as a stylistic masterpiece (the first time I atched it I recall being kind of bored.) It really is great work; I hate to sing praises for a guy who raped a 13-year-old. He should be in prison getting raped himself but, wow, can he makes movies! Right now, I'm about to plug in a real literary gem on par with Citizen Kane and Grapes of Wrath: Sorority House Massacre!
I'm really looking forward to watching one of your movies. I know you didn't direct it, but I have a signed copy of Header (the movie) and its one of my favorites. If your movies are half as good as your writing we're all in for one hell of a viewing experience.
jamey: thanks for such kind words on Header the movie; I loved it too--tremendous resourcefulness on the part of the two dudes who made it. As for my movies, I can promise not only piss poor production but also imagery more macabre and, frankly, INGENIOUS than just about any filmmaker out there! How's the for pompous ass? it's slow going but great going! BHBB: I'm SURE you'll dig Header 3; I'm having a gigglingly good time! Ryan: Not familiar with Images yet but I'm gonna order it in a minute! (I read somewhere, wiki maybe, that EWS cost 60 million but the worldwide gross was something like 170 million, a decent moneymaker in spite of lousy reception. It really is a fanscinating flick.)

I saw Barry Lyndon for the first time a couple weeks ago and was blown away. Kubrick is such a cinematic genius, I am in awe every time I watch one of his films. I have now seen everything from Dr. Strangelove on, but still haven't seen any of his pre-Strangelove work. I can't wait to check them out! It's frustrating that there aren't more auteurs like him working in film today. The only living directors I would even consider putting in a similar stratosphere as Kubrick are Paul Thomas Anderson and Darren Aronofsky.

Hey Lee! Miss ya, man! I miss everyone, actually! I've been busy working on a few new projects so I have not been on the boards but that is changing soon. Lost my day job so now I write full time! Yay... All I can say about that is time management. How do you do it? Tips? Anyways, bought the Joy Division album Unknown Pleasures and it blew my mind! Can't belive I never got into that till now. Thanks, Ed Lee's shirt advertisements. They worked. Also, watched a few new movies from Scream Factory: Night of the Demons, Crawlspace, Prince of Darkness. All good ones! The Japanese found footage movie you spoke of at the beginning of this post sounds interesting. I'll shop around for it soon. Take care, Chuck Rios
Cool, man, I hope you enjoy Images! And I hope you found it at a not-so-destructive price as last I heard it went out of print. The soundtrack for it is very good too, nerve wracking stuff.
Chuck, I only picked up Unknown Pleasures myself a few years ago. It's a great album! My favorite of the JD stuff.
Images was terribly hard to find affordably (most were the wrong Region) but I found one for $25 so I ordered it. Recent movies I've seen: Devil's Pass (Renny Harlin) very good b movie romp, expertly done; Polanski's Macbeth, the best version made!; for some reason I rewatched Who' Afriad of Virginia Wolf which deserved the Oscars but is so UNPLEASANT I won't watch it again for 20 years; The Evil Maker, a couple bucks on Amazon, low budget fun with above decent editinig, plus Stephanie Beaton topless, great example of super low budget turned into something entertaining (not so with Evil Maker 2); oh, Truffants Day for Night which I wanted to watch cuz I want the refamiliarize myself with the "great" directors, this multiple Oscar winning was so boring and pretentious I was slack jawed (and Jacquiline Bisset was SO BAD they could've used a mannequin and gotten better perfomance, in all Truffant's "genius" baffles me, he moves cameras around on cranes and jibs, big deal. I'LL be a more interesting director that him!; Colour Out of Space, very noteworthy adaptation of HPL's personal favorite story.
As for my movie, it goes great (I know, I always say that!) but I'm learning more and more how to edit, and even though I don't really need any more footage, the best of the models I hire are still available so I keep shooting. I hve a shoot tonight, Friday, and Saturday (Saturday will probably have a Naked Girls Throwing Pies At Each Other Scene! Truffant never did that! Screw him!)
And Header 3 goes slow but sure; I work on it every day an am very happy with it. I know I promised to put up an excerpt here, and I will very soon. Just gotta choose the right scene.
Thanks, all, for your continued support! Talk to you soon!
