Most of his books are to find via torrent sites, even the harder ones like family tradition.
I refuse to download them for free.

He gives us so much pleasure with his books, that i think it's wrong to steal it from him.

Rather keep searching long time in bookshops, via Jizzlefinger than downloading them.

Ed, i have most of your books signed and numbered, they are more value to me than if i would down it from the internet.
Keep up the good work, hopefully some new novels and short stories will follow.

Yep, my book too, and I always wonder when I see newer reviews that mention a story I cut out at the last minute if people are accessing the review PDF copy.

Indeed, I can only pray to Yog-Sothoth that these book pirateers spend eternity as butt-fodder in the Pit of the Shoggoths. Unfortunately there's nothing I or anyone else can do about it. In an ultimate sense, I don't mind if a poor person downloads an illegal duplication of my books (I felt the same way years ago, regarding remaindered paperbacks with the covers torn off and being sold for a buck or fifty cents) but this isn't a popular view among authors. I appreciate any fan who boycotts such pirate sites. I keep getting royalty checks, however, so conscientious fans are still obviously buying my stuff rather than downloading from a pirate site, God bless 'em! But thanks for your concern!

I'm kinda ambivalent towards downloading in general, but that's also because if I LIKE something - say, Ed's entire library! - I will go out of my way to PURCHASE stuff I enjoy. Sure, I can download all of Ed's works, but... digital copies are fine for when you want to take multiple items on a trip or whatever, but I can't SEE them sitting on my shelf. I can't have Ed's autograph or the limited edition with a big #223/435 (.223 caliber FTW!). I can't have fun searching for particular titles and numerical sequences, or have 3 different versions with specific reasons for each.... NONE of those things can be acquired through downloading!

Some of the highest praise you can give an author is to be able to download something (or have already downloaded it), then turn around and spend 3x as much on a special, limited edition BECAUSE YOU APPRECIATED THE STORY AND AUTHOR that damn much.

I love my Kindle (before it busted... damn clumsy dumbass - ME), I like being able to have literally tens of thousands of titles at my immediate beck and call.... but they will NEVER be the same as going to one of my bookshevles, perusing the titles I have, and laying down on my nasty old college couch to read on good ole fashioned PAPER!

Oh, Ed, please - how about including my nasty, stained, red-plaid college couch in a short story?! The stains are unidentifiable (thank God!), the couch has been in my possession since 1996, it's fugly (again - red plaid, anyone?), should probably be burned for the sake of humanity.... but it's still comfy as hell. I need to figure out how to post a pic here...

The reason allot of them books are on torrent sites is not because people want to "steal" them. You can blame his old publisher for that. Simply put, people want ebooks, his old publisher just never got around to releasing allot of his works in ebook format. So, fans simply scanned the books, turned them into ebooks, then shared them. By the time the publisher woke up, realized hey time to put this stuff out there for the fans, it was to late.

Publishers did not pay attention to what happened to music. Companies refused to release music in a format the fans wanted, So the fans did it themselves. Computers and Scanners have given people access to items they want for themselves, if the publisher and record companies refuse to release the stuff, IMHO, can not blame the fans for doing it themselves.

If you offer a product, in a format the fans want, at a reasonable price, people will break out the credit cards. If you don't. the fans will simply do it themselves. Its just that simple.

I am NOT gonna tell what I have seen, all I can say I have seen stuff, to this day, have YET to see in ebook format. Some of the old stuff just release, well its been out there for a couple of years now...........I mean really, put header 2 out there in ebook format, yet don't bother with the first one?? People wanna know how it all started. Just lack of common sense and lazy publishers.........

In regards to BOTTOM FEEDER - people on the Deadite Press reviewer list got an earlier edition that still had that story in it. It wasn't cut until after review PDFs were sent out.

But with Amazon's search inside feature - I had no idea until just now. Neither the print or e-editions have the story. I'm not really sure why Amazon is using an old file instead of the new one. Thanks for the heads up, I need to look into that.

I figured that's what it was with "Bottom Feeder." I knew it went out with review copies so I understood why I saw it in a lot of reviews, but I always wonder when I see it in reviews showing up over a year after the book's release. Who knows? But it's pretty cool that reviews are still showing up after this long, regardless.
