Post subject:  MY FIRST "SHOOT!"

I’m thrilled to say that, despite some technical glitches that I should’ve better anticipated, my first “shoot” for Cornface went well. My two trooper-actresses delivered their lines just fine, and they also made their “shower appearances” without a hitch, not balking in the least at plumes of fake sperm, nor Party Store blood. The only real mistakes were mine. For one thing, I discovered a Cardinal Rule the hard way: Always Replay Every Scene Immediately After You Shoot It. I didn’t do this at first and discovered as a prefix to much swearing that my fancy external microphone was TURNED OFF for the opening scenes shoot with my Conan M50. Fortunately, I had a backup running simultaneously (my Panasonic V500); hence, the silent footage could be replaced...until the Panasonic fell off its mount (due entirely to my faulty inspection) and hit the bathroom floor, a 4 foot plus drop. Miraculously, it didn’t break but couldn’t be reaffixed so it wasn’t feasible to continue to use. Also, if it weren’t for my ex-girlfriend-slash-assistant’s insistence that I do more takes than I wanted, most of the day would’ve been wasted along with the money I paid the actors. In all, however, I was able to generate enough acceptable footage to call my endeavor a success. The girls hurled foul language with an alarming formidability (“That trailer trash white ghetto cocksucker knocked me the fuck up! The lying pile of fuck told me he had a vasectomy!”) I’m also happy to add that the fake balls so expertly provided by Reelsplatter looked fantastic and were a big hit with the girls. And at about 5pm last Sunday I got to utter words I’ve always wanted to pass my lips: “That’s a wrap.” In hindsight I know expected shooting a movie scene to be 10 times more difficult than I could’ve imagined but in truth it was 100 times more difficult; butit was also 100 times more fun. I sure hope this wee filmmaking effort of mine works out because I sure as shit want to make MORE movies after this. And even if Cornface turns out to be a turd, it’ll be a GREAT turd!
The next shoot will take place next week; two more enthusiastic volunteers (one will show boob, the other butt) will play prostitutes who incur Cornface’s wrath; and my ex girlfriends will get her throat cut! And after that I’ve got yet another adventurous actress who will get her feet cut off and have her blood drained through the stumps (while her husband stands in for Cornface while I do the fx and camera stuff). The fake legs arrived in the mail a few days ago; they look disturbing ly real. (And the friggin things cost $150; I gonna hate to cut the feet off them.) That’s it for now on the Cornface front, but there will be much more to come!

Everybody have a great weekend!

Sounds like you are having a great, if difficult, time. My question: is anyone shooting 'behind-the-scenes' footage, for the DVD release?

Thanks for the updates.

Bob: I haven't forgotten about your scenes; we'll shoot them when convenient for you. Erik, yes, there will be plenty of behind the scenes stuff. There are a couple of gaffs in that first scene that are so bad, they'll make for perfect blooper footage!
