I agree why give it to someone who just bitches about Ed Lee, I am skint at the moment due to the birth of my son I pre-ordered DR rather than Witch Water and not sure if i can afford that now but hey. If there is a free copy going, I know of a really nice book shelf full of Lee books where it would look great, and Living in the UK Lee books are a bit hard to come by. Screw Tym, he has made where he stands on Ed Lee quite clear!

Larry, you are an upstanding gentleman. I hope Tym does indeed get the free book. I have no qualms with that. Your explanation should suffice, but to hold one of your books in ones hands is a feeling that one must have to truly appreciate the time, money, and effort that goes into it. Bob |

Limited edition prints of books are just like limited edition prints of paintings. They're higher quality and more collectible because they're a limited run. I really don't mind having to wait longer for a book to come out because I'll buy it eventually in paperback. Even if you buy the limited editions right when they come out your still going to have to wait a while between releases. It not like any author worth reading can pump a new releases out every week. |

A friend of mine from North Carolina said there's an old graveyard where a little girl was buried in a rum barrel, to preserve her corpse while the father transported her body home from Europe. Boy, did that give me a great idea for a story! Best, Edward Lee |

HOW DID I MISS MOST OF THIS THREAD??? Wow, just Wow!! Bloodletting is awesome for offering a book to Tym, but I agree, I don't think it will be appreciated as too many trees died for the book or whatever else his reasonings are!! I LOVED everybody else's responses, especially Squeaky's shoving the book up her vagina....that is classic!! And since Mr. Lee was so kind to let us know he plans on going to KillerCon next year....I hope we ALL can go and show our love and raise some hell in Vegas!! Konnie |

Hell, if it gets me a free copy of Witch Water, I'll echo every sentiment that Tym said, and shout it off the top of the nearest coal bank to boot. I won't mean a word of it, but a free copy is a free copy, especially in this ruthless and unforgiving economy. |

Probably going to piss him off but I've had enough of this dude's whining in the past...first of all, if you cannot afford the limited edition hardcover, big deal...I understand the cost is steep for some (but I budget myself so I can afford the occasional Lee limited ed, the ONLY author I would shell out $55-$60 bucks for!) but if you do your research the book is also coming out in digital and trade paper early next year. It is neither the author's OR the publisher's fault that a reader cannot afford the well-deserved asking price for a collectible item. You either can buy or not. At least you can purchase the $15 tp...or lesser-priced digital at all your usual ebook merchants. Stop complaining and move on, since you obviously have a HUGE issue with Lee, for no real good reason. Buh-bye. |

Everyone knows my opinion on this matter. Books are made for every different kind of collector / reader. You have the amazing lettered editions, the limited and the paperback / ebook. I think that of all authors, Lee has been the most vocal about getting the stories to most of his readers. Many of the short stories that used to cost quite a bit are there now for everyone to enjoy. Which makes me smile, cause the more that read these books, the more he can keep writing them. With that being said, Larry, once again you stand out. Great offer. I am sure once he gets his hands on it, he will see why the cost is what it is. To be honest, I am amazed you can put out the quality you do for that price anyway. I have never been disappointed and feel it is 100% worth the money. Just be patient Tym, you will get your chance to read it. I am sure there are many Lee tales you haven't read to keep you entertained till its release. I have yet to be disappointed with a single one. |
