7 years? Damn! What's the deal with Cemetery Dance? It seems like they've really fallen behind on everything. I wonder what's going on with Lee's other Lovecraft book. I can't think of the name offhand, but it's the one for the CD members. But yeah, In Laymon's terms looks very promising. The Chef huh? Anyone know what it's about?

If I were to write a story in tribute to Laymon, I'd call it THE RUMP.
By the way, is anybody else surprised by the lack of film adaptations of Laymon's books? With most genre books I can see why there is some hesitation on the part of financial backers since the stuff usually would take a bunch of cash to do right with all the supernatural elements but it would seem to me that you could film almost all of Laymon's books for a very reasonable price since they are vicious, sleazy thrillers at heart. Few locations, limited cast and his writing has always been so damn cinematic you could basically use the novel as the first draft of the screenplay.

This has always been one of biggest complaints about horror movies... They make so many crap ones and there are so many books that I think would make great movies. Laymon's In the Dark movie was actually really good considering they had a shit budget. Switched up the events a little bit and took out my favorite scene from the novel but I still thought it was good. They threw in their own interpertation as well which was good.
There are a lot of rumors out there for Laymon's novel Island being turned into a movie. If the ending is done right I would be amazed since this is my favoirte ending of all time.
With that being said, I am hoping that the success of Ketchum's The Girl Next Door, Red and The Lost will increase the movie adaptations of some true horror films. Of course with our help, hopefully Header will sell a ton. I know I will get it for all my family members next year for Christmas. Especially my Grandparents. I am sure they would love it!!
Wow, I completely forgot about this project. "Chef" is just a little ditty set in my "Grub girl" universe; not that big a deal but I really dug the opportunity to write a tribute. Dick was a terrific guy. (I think I dedicated City Infernal to him). I remember that last time I saw dick before he died it was at a party at Brian Keene's where Brian showed the In the Dark flick. It was REALLY COOL, and to mirror previous comments, I can't imagine why several of his books haven't been piked up by big studios. As for my first Lovecraft pastiche, The Innsiwch Horror by CD, I wish I could give you a solid release date. But thanks very much for being patient (it's a pretty cool mini-novel.) I'll let you all know the minute I do (of course, you'll probably know before me!)
