Horror editor Don D’Auria joins Samhain Publishing, Ltd.
Updated site launch, new “Samhain Horror” line announced

January 19, 2011 – Cincinnati – International publisher Samhain Publishing, Ltd. is pleased to welcome Don D’Auria as Executive Editor for the newly created Samhain Horror line. In this role, D’Auria will oversee all editorial elements of the rapidly expanding publisher’s newest genre, which will launch in October, 2011 with the goal of bringing two new books of horror fiction to compulsive readers each month. Additional information about Samhain Horror can be found at http://www.samhainpublishing.com/general-information/.

D’Auria’s arrival at Samhain coincides with the publisher’s relaunch of their heavily-trafficked website, www.samhainpublishing.com.

D’Auria reports to Christina Brashear, Publisher of Samhain Publishing, Inc. “As we expand to meet the demands of ebook readers and lovers of original, high-quality fiction, I was looking for someone whose editorial approach would draw both authors and readers to this newest Samhain genre,” said Brashear. “In Don D’Auria, we’ve found an icon in the horror industry with the discernment and perspective that will ensure our readers will have access to both the newest and most powerful voices in horror.”

“I look forward to continuing Samhain Publishing’s remarkable success in publishing groundbreaking ebook and print fiction, and to launching a new chapter in the horror genre with Samhain Horror,” said D’Auria. “It’s an exciting opportunity for authors to reach a new and vibrant readership, and for readers to know they can find some of the best voices in horror fiction all in one place: Samhain Horror.”

Don D’Auria (http://www.samhainpublishing.com/author/don-dauria/) was most recently executive editor at Leisure Books, where for fifteen years he directed the horror line that Rue Morgue magazine called “the champion of paperback horror.” During that time he worked with some of the leading authors in the field, including Brian Keene, Richard Laymon, Ramsey Campbell and Jack Ketchum. Born and raised in suburban New Jersey, D’Auria was the quintessential horror kid, growing up on a steady diet of TV’s Chiller Theater on Friday nights, Creature Features on Saturday nights, and horror novels and Famous Monsters magazine the rest of the time. He is the recipient of an International Horror Guild Award for his contributions to the horror genre, has a regular column in Cemetery Dance magazine, and wrote a list for The Book of Lists: Horror. He previously worked at Bantam, Harlequin and Farrar, Straus, Giroux.
