About 18 months ago, Apex published a co-authored novella titled ORGY OF SOULS. The co-authors, Maurice Broaddus and Wrath James White, are bi-polar opposites in ideologies of faith and religion. Wrath is a former professional kickboxer. Maurice is a former minister.
When they tested my interest in their joint project you could say I gave them an enthusiastic ‘hell yeah.’
ORGY OF SOULS is the story of brothers, one a priest and the other a hyper-sexual male supermodel. In a cruel twist of irony, the priest becomes afflicted with HIV. The supermodel makes a blood pact with the devil that in exchange for twenty souls, the devil will heal his brother. Massive carnage ensues.
And despite all the gore and visceral horror, ORGY OF SOULS has a thread of hope and redemption that pulls the novella up above your standard blood and guts fair into an emotional production of brotherly love and faith in one’s self.
In a way, I see ORGY OF SOULS as the spiritual predecessor to Maurice’s co-edited anthology DARK FAITH (that also includes a wonderful story by Wrath James White).
We’re having a blowout sale on ORGY OF SOULS for the next seven days. You can get the hardcover of ORGY OF SOULS for only $10! We’re selling the trade paperback for just $5!
