Atomic Fez is entirely filled with joy to declare the following points of incredible wondrousness!
•The winner of the World HorrorCon contest where the lucky soul would have a "wickedly delightful champagne breakfast with the author of Wicked Delights" was Stephen Bacon. Author John Llewellyn Probert, his Lady Kathleen, and the publisher joined Mr. Bacon at the Radisson Blu Hotel and enjoyed a selection of croissants, jams, breads, and the fine champagne recommended by the ever-so French manager of the lounge. Manifique!
•Speaking of Wicked Delights, the initial printing — which was mailed to those in the UK and North American who pre-ordered, as well as was on offer at WHC and then at EasterCon the following week-end — has entirely sold out! The book is now being simultaneously re-printed on both sides of the Atlantic, thereby reaching its 3rd reprinting in less than as many months! Hooray!
•Nearing the same state as the title above, due to substantial sales, is The Terror and the Tortoiseshell: John Travis's début novel about a feline Private Eye, based around H.L. Menken's The Terror having actually happened. Huzzah!
•James Cooper's The Beautiful Red has been reviewed by Peter Tennant in Black Static, calling James "one of the most promising writers to emerge from the small press pack in recent years". About the same time as that came out, the book was reviewed by the American Library Association's Booklist, and they said "the quality of his output so far easily matches that of the best‑known talents in contemporary horror." Hoopla!
•Rhys Hughes attended EasterCon in April (something he never does is attend conventions as a regular civilian), where he met one of his heroes Ian Watson. Rhys also read his story "The Mistake" during an Arthur C. Clarke session, beginning his reading by missing the chair when he sat down. The chair was reported to be shaken by the experience, but un-hurt. Woo-Hoo!
•All Atomic Fez titles have been reviewed by Publishers Weekly, one by Booklist, and three by Black Static! For a beginning publisher, this is incredible! Fantastic!
•All orders for customers in the UK are now sent from within Great Britain, therefore are only charged for domestic mail. All orders for North America are sent from here in Metro Vancouver, so they are charged for shipping from here. There is no need for people to pay for trans-Atlantic postage. This is better for the ecology and for the personal economy. Yahoo!
Due to a delay caused by a volcano, all North American orders have been posted now, so people should have got their books by the time these words are read. Outstanding!
