It's crazy when you think about it, but I just picked up 10 books for less than the price of one hardcover or two trade books! My total was under $22.00 and I've got about a weeks worth of reading! (o.k., maybe two weeks worth ) It's been raining here so hard the last couple of days (my wheelbarrow was over flowing yesterday and I dumped it out, I bet it's full again!) that I took the time this afternoon to order a few things and man, I felt like I could have kept ordering more. I do feel a bit guilty not ordering directly from a few of the publishers, but ordering from Amazon is so freaking easy, all it takes is one click and it's in the Kindle.
And yeah, I took a chance on the last two books up there, but for a buck, it wasn't all that much of a chance really.
...and I almost bought the Tetrologist (sp?) from Ed Lee and Wrath, but I couldn't make myself push the button. It was only $ 4.99, but after reading the copy, I was so grossed out I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it. Maybe, after my scotch tonight, I'll change my mind because as gross as it seems, there is a part of me that wants to read it and be repulsed.

Nice Tony! I have a list of stuff I need to get from Amazon. Just started Slob by Rex Miller. Damn good so far.
Just a reminder that the authors get a bigger slice of the pie when you buy directly from Crossroad.

Oh man, I loved Chaingang! I got some of the sequels (which I've already read years ago) in my TBR pile. I went out and got the paperbacks last year after searching high and low for them. One of my best pleasant surprises is once I bought a short story anthology at some used book store and I came across a Chaingang short story while I was reading it! I didn't even know Miller wrote short stories, never mind ones with Chaingang in them!
And yeah, I know about buying direct, I just wish it was much easier. I keep thinking the difference can't be all that much.
I recently read The Teratologist. Ed Lee has been hit-or-miss with me, but I've enjoyed all of Wrath's books that I've read. However, I did not care for The Teratologist. It wasn't the gross-out first chapter, I just didn't care for the story itself.
I haven't read either of Steve's new books yet, but plan to do so soon.

Regarding the amount authors receive on a direct purchase vs. one at Amazon or elsewhere:
In case you didn't know, and this is public knowledge, all authors get 80% of the sales amount, regardless of where it was purchased.
Amazon takes 30% for all ebook sales $2.99 or higher. That leaves approximately $2.04 as the amount to CP. The $0.05 difference is that Amazon charges (I think) $.15 per MB transferred, so an eBook that's 1/3rd of a MB is an additional $.05. Of the remaining balance, the authors get 80%, so that's approximately $1.63 per $2.99 sale.
B&N and other sites keep about the same amount as Amazon, maybe a little higher or lower.
For a CP direct purchase, the authors get 80% of the sales price, so it's 80% of the $2.99 price, so $2.39 per sale. That's assuming no coupon usage.
So, the difference in the amount paid to the author between a $2.99 sale at Amazon and the same $2.99 sale at CP is about $.76, which is quite significant for a $2.99 eBook.

Right, I was just breaking it down as best I could to show what the difference is between an Amazon purchase and direct purchase. I'll reword my last sentence as it is a bit screwy. Posts at 11:00 PM are always fun.
I'll also send some headache medicine to Craig

I can't exactly buy anything for my Kindle right now, but I found the first book I'm going to buy when I get it (other than MILE 81 which I already bought) - QUICK FIXES, a collection of Repairman Jack short stories that appears to be an ebook only.

I thought your first purchase would be the A.R Morlan book.
